With the price of admission approaching $10 (which I think it already
is in NYC), I'm curious: which theater chains offer discounts to
students?

i.e. card carrying college or university types

I know almost all chains have some kind of bulk purchase discount
deal, where you can buy something like 20 tickets and get a couple
dollars off each one...

But I was just thinking of regular student discounts.

AMC theaters in San Francisco has a $2 for students, while there
are no discounts for students at United Artists or Landmark theaters.

Star Theaters in Michigan & Ohio don't offer discounts for students,
either.

How about the other chains?

Depends on the theater chain.
In my movie-going experience,
Regal Cinemas
AMC
Loews
provide student discounts.

You can also go to Regal Cinemas website and purchase tix in bulk,
each costing $5. Must pay S&H though. Caveat: They can't be
accepted until the movie you want to use it for has been out for 2
weeks.

Cinemark in Houston does.
Cinemark in College Station didn't back when I was there (not
surprising since the market there is probably 90% students).

Usually theaters close enough to a campus that students make up a
significant percentage of the clientele -- especially dollar-
theaters (which, alas, cost more than a buck nowadays).

There's a nice independent theater in Fairfax, VA that only charges
$5 with a college ID. And the concession stand sells pita
sandwiches and salads.
