Hi
Can anyone help me set up a network between 2 computers.
I have 2 PC's My laptop has XP Home and my desktop XP
pro. Both have their own separate internet connections.
The network worked fine befor I upgraded from 98 to XP
pro on my dasktop. I ran the small office network
wizard. Restarted both computers. On the desktop I can
access all the shared drivess etc on it without any
problems but I cannot access my laptop. From my laptop I
can access my desktop ok as well but cannot access the
shared drives on the laptop. However LAN games are fine.I
get the following message whenever I try and access the
laptop thru the network:

"\\laptop\Main(C) is not accessible. You might not have
access permission to use this network resource. Contact
the administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions.
Not enough server storage is available to process this
command"

Any help would be appreciated as its reallyn annoying
having to copy files to a cd then to my desktop when I
could do it with the network before

1) You cannot log on without a valid username and password if the guest account is disabled.

Note that turning the guest account off in the control panel applet is not disabling it.
That merely prevents local console login.
The guest account is still enabled for Network Access.

This is mentioned in a small paragraph at the bottom of:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q304040

To turn it off completely:
Start | run | Compmgmt.msc;
Local Users and Groups;
Users;
Dbl-click Guest;
Check 'Account is disabled'.

2) The Guest account _does_ need to be enabled for simple File Sharing.

With Simple File Sharing in force, all incoming connections authenticate
as Guest, regardless of whether they have a valid user account or not.

Simple File Sharing sets a registry Entry called ForceGuest.

If Simple File Sharing ( and hence ForceGuest ) is in force,
but the Guest account has been disabled, then users will not
be able to connect.
Connections from an XP box will get prompted to supply credentials:

A Password is required:
Username: XP-Box\Guest ( Grayed out);
Password:

No password will work, because Guest is disabled.
