For those who may've missed it, noted a t.v. newscast re Walmart's
having instituted a "Code ADAM" program in their retail stores. When
a shopper makes any store employee aware of a missing child situation,
a prompt store-wide public announcement of "Code ADAM" is to cause
Walmart employees to promptly bar all exits pending the arrival of
alerted local law enforcement.

More progress...but a sorry comment on the evolution of our society.

Worth noting, the "Code ADAM" program underscores that which seems
self-evident: that action which is prompt is the sort of action that
is most productive. I surmise that should be one of the principal
"litmus tests" applied to evaluate the credibility of any proposal
re the missing child effort...

You're right Bob. The first 6 - 12 Hours in a search for an abducted
child are the most critical. If you can cut that down to minutes then
you increase the chance of that child's survival considerably.
As a note. Your comment on todays society in the area of abducted
children is not that valid.
Abductions have been with us quite a while. Most of the organizations
that deal with abducted children have been in operation for 4 to 17
years and the majority were a result of an abduction.
We were started in Au 1990 following the abduction and murder of two
young girls, Missing Youth in Omaha was founded 12 years ago after the
abduction of a young newsboy. The Amber Foundation in California and
Wetter ling Foundation in Minny. were both founded following stranger
abductions.
The problem of abducted children has been with us, it is just now
being addressed by more then a handful of people throughout the U.S. and
other countries. The Hague Convention on dealing with recovering
abducted children proves that awareness is becoming world-wide.
Later, Marv
