Hi Folks,

I sure hope someone out there can help me. My family story says
that my g-grandfather Andrew Donald was born aboard the ship that
brought his parents -------- Donald and Sarah Gustin to Canada
(Ontario) from Scotland circa 1850. I am not certain of this and have
no one to ask. I have a copy of the list of Sarah's family from the
family Bible,

1 John Gustin m Alice Stewart
2 Sarah m ------- Donald
2 Eliza m ------ Williams
3 Charles Williams
3 Minnie Williams m ------- Spicknell
2 Lavina
2 Hannah
2 Mary 1st m ------- Soper
3 Lizzie Soper
3 Frank Soper
2nd m J. Scherers
2 Loretta
2 John 1st m ----------
3 had two daughters
2nd m ---------
3 had two daughters and two sons
2 Robert m -----------
3 Maude m Everett Horton
3 Mina
3 Sadie m ---------
4 Gladys
4 ?
4 Freddie
3 Eddie
3 Ernie
3 Bob

I am not certain whether any of these came to Canada (Ontario) as well
or not.

For her husband I have nothing.

Sarah and --------- Donald had at least one son, Andrew but I have no
records of whether they had any more children.

Andrew, the son married Matilda Courtney cir 1882 and she died in
childbirth in 1883. Andrew then married Matilda's sister Achsah and
they had four children: Myrtle Matilda (my grandmother)
John
Ai
Ira
Matilda was buried at Mt. Elgin Cemetery and near her gravesite is the
stone of an Andrew Donald. However, there is a gravestone in the New
Delmer Cemetery with the names and dates of Andrew and Achsah, his
second wife. I am assuming that the Andrew in Mt. Elgin is perhaps his
father. There was an Andrew Donald in Lanark County in the 1871
Ontario Census, who was 35 at that time and had had a recent death in
the family the past year. I also checked and there is a gravesite for Sarah
Donald in a Lanark cemetery - the only one I have found so far in the
province, so I assume that that is where Sarah Gustin Donald is buried.

If anyone could help me to put together a few of the pieces in this odd
mix of names and places, I would be most grateful.

Thank you for your patience and consideration.

> istr...@fox.nstn.caHi Karen

Have you tried going to a Latter Day Saints Church Family History
Centre? There is no fee and their volunteers are immensely helpful.
They can show you how to find birth, death, marriage records for
Ontario from 1869 to the turn of the century. There is a wealth of
information in their records. Just call and find out their hours.
Also don't confuse them with the"reorganized church of latter day
saints, a different organization altogether." Good Luck, Sharon
