[from the book:
The Life of Mary as Seen by Mystics
Compiled by Raphael Brown
from Chap. 32. The Resurrection]

At sunset on Good Friday, the Blessed Virgin, St. John and the Holy Women
returned to the Cenacle in Jerusalem.

In the hall of the Last Supper, Mary thanked them all for having remained
with her throughout the Passion of her Son. Then she offered herself to all
the women as their lifelong servant and friend and they kissed her hands in
acknowledgement. The he gave them the blessing they asked for. The Holy
Women begged her to take some rest and food but Mary replied: "My rest and
consolation shall be to see my Son and Lord arisen from the dead. Yet you,
my dear friends, must satisfy your needs, while I retire alone with my son
John."

Alone with John in her room, Mary fell on her knees and said to John: "Do not
forget the words which my Son spoke to us on the Cross. You are my master
and
a priest of God. Henceforth, all my joy shall be to serve you until my
death,
and my consolation shall be to obey you as my superior." John humbly yielded
to her wishes then he left Mary who spent several hours in her room,
meditating
sadly on the Passion of her divine Son.

At about 4 o'clock in the morning of the Sabbath, St. John came to console
Mary. Mary then asked thim to find Peter and bring him to see her.
Obliging,
St. John looked for the Apostles and he friendly greeted them and hoped for
their pardon for abandoning the Masater during His Passion.

Peter came to see Mary and falling at her feet with sobs of intense sorrow,
he said: "I have sinned, Lady. I have sinned before my God, and I have
offended my Master and you!" Mary knelt beside Him and said, "Let us ask
pardon for your guilt from my Son and your Master."

Mary prayed for Peter then she reminded him of Jesus' mercy and forgiveness
towards sinners and of his own obligation to be an example of strength in
faith being assigned the head of the Apostles.

Then the other Apostles wept and asked pardon from Mary. The Mother of God
promised her intercession for their forgiveness and when the Apostles left
her,
they were more inflamed with new fervor and sthrength by new grace given to
them.

They felt special reverence to St. John for taking his stand at Calvary and
all throughout Christ's Passion. Still, St. John humbly showed love and
kindness to them without putting himself any more special than the other
Apostles.

Throughout that Sabbath day, Mary and the Holy Women prayed, mourned and
fasted. The Blessed Virgin saw in visions when the Lord went to Limbo and
took all the Patriarchs and souls with Him. They all hovered above the Holy
City and when the company passed by the Cenacle where Mary was, He said to
them: "There is Mary, My Mother."

Early on the day the Lord's soul re-entered His body, the Blessed Virgin
experienced a mystical ecstacy which transmutted her grief and sorrow into
joy and bliss that St. John, upon entering her oratory, saw her transfigured.
Thus, he perceived that Jesus then arisen from the tomb.

The Redeemer, shining with brilliance of His divinity, immediately showed
Himself to His Blessed Mother, together with all the saints and patriarchs
of the Old Testament. Mary prostrated herself on the ground and humbly
adored her resurrected Son. Then Jesus gently raised her gave her a mystical
embrace. Mary then heard a Voice: "My beloved, ascend higher!" and she was
given a profound and intimate vision of the Divinity moreover what she had
before.

Next, Mary turned to the Holy Patriarchs and the souls of the blessed. Mary
saw her beloved parents, St. Ann and St. Joachim and her husband, St. Joseph.
They all together sang hymns of praise to the Lord until Jesus left them to
show Himself to Mary Magdalen.

Later, the Blessed Virgin listened quietly and humbly as Mary Magdalen told
her that she saw the risen Lord. Mary strengthened their faith by qouting
some of the scriptural prophecies concerning the Resurrection of the Messias.

During the week that followed, the Apostles came to Mary complaining about
the disbelief of Thomas. Mary calmed their anger by assuring them that
Thomas' hesitation and disbelief would in the end bring great benefit to
others and glory to God. Mary told them to be hopeful and the Lord had
granted Mary's prayers when Jesus enlightened Thomas by letting him touch
His wounds.
