Summary:
Chap. 8. Annunciation

(This chapter contains events as related in the Bible: St. Luke's
gospel, chapter 1, Annunciation. Therefore, I am excluding most of
those parts in this summary.)

Mary was 14 1/2 years old at the time of the Annunciation. She was
taller than most girls her age, with brownish complexion, dark large
eyes, dark hair, a beautiful face and a perfectly proportioned body.

Archangel Gabriel's appearance was that of a handsome young man in
pleasing and majestic bearing. After instructed by God on the exact
words to greet Mary, He proceeded to Mary's house and He was accompanied
by thousands of resplendid angels.

In her room, while praying, Mary thought Archangel Gabriel was one of
Heaven's noble envoy that she wished to bow before him, but he disallowed
it. He instead bowed profoundly before her who he considered his Queen.

Mary heard the message from Archangel Gabriel and some interiorly
from God. Then Mary, overwhelmed and fainthearted because of modesty,
gave her consent to the Lord.

(exact qoute follows)
Now a celestial light filled Mary's little room, dissolving the ceiling
and revealing the heavens. In a dazzling beam could be seen a brilliant
figure of the Blessed Trinity. The Holy Spirit appeared in a winged
form. Masses of flame shot out like wings on His right and left. Then
three intense rays flashed and darted into the right side of the Virgin,
and she became entirely suffused with a glowing light.

(Blessed Virgin's qoute to mystic here omitted.)

In the same instant of this miraculous conception, Mary was rapt in a
marvelous vision in which the Holy Trinity revealed to her the mystery
of the hypostatic union of the divine and human nature in the person
of the Eternal Word (Mary, when God infused knowledge of the Creation,
was told about this but she did not understand it then. Could be Heaven's
definition of __ensoulment at conception__?) and confirmed her in the title
and rights of Mother of God. She was also shown in this vision the future
mysteries of the life and death of her Son, the Redeemer of mankind.
(end qoute)

Mary, with love and humility, offered her thanks to the Lord and she
prayed for new graces and enlightenment on the rearing of and service to
her Son throughout her life on earth.

When all these visions ended, a number of closed white roses showered
Mary who remained oblivious to everything around her.

As when Mary was conceived, All of Nature was filled with joy and
inspiration at the conception of the Son of God in Mary's womb.

Mary prayed until dawn while standing before her little altar and
only towards sunrise that she rested.

Speaking of the Annunciation, the Blessed Virgin said to St.
Elizabeth of Schoenau:
"Do you know why God did this? I had believed in Him and because
I had humbled myself."
