What happened to Imaging for Windows that was part of
Windows 98. When I opened a TIFF file on line, it opened
in Imaging for Windows and could be manipulated. I XP it
won't even open the TIFF files. Any Ideas?

It was removed due to licensing issues.

Might want to check with Kodak to see if they have a similar product.
Otherwise, you can do a search on the internet for tiff viewers.

The Imaging program is no longer distributed with Windows. You can download
a trial version of it at Kodak's website.

Try this technique from www.lockergnome

Not only has the Kodak imaging application (for viewing/editing .tif - i.e. fax files) disappeared in Windows ME but also from XP, having been replaced by MS's own pretty, but non-functional viewer (it can't properly view 200x100 resolution faxes). I managed to add the original W95 and W2k Kodak image editor into XP using the following procedure. John Hunter

1. Make a new subdirectory in 'Programs' called 'Imaging'

2a. for W9x - Copy into your new subdirectory 'KODAKIMG.EXE' from the \Windows directory and the following files from \Windows\System:

OIUI400.DLL
OITWA400.DLL
OIPRT400.DLL
OISLB400.DLL
OISSQ400.DLL
OIADM400.DLL
OICOM400.DLL
OIDIS400.DLL
OIFIL400.DLL
OIGFS400.DLL
IMGCMN.DLL
IMGEDIT.OCX
IMGSCAN.OCX
IMGSHL.DLL
IMGTHUMB.OCX
IMGADMIN.OCX
IMGOCXD.HLP

3. Register the OCX files in the system. If you have installed XP Powertoys do this by right-clicking the new 'Imaging' subdirectory IN THE LEFT PANE of Explorer. Click 'Open Command Window Here'. If not, then in Start/Run, type 'cmd' and navigate to the new imaging sub-directory. At the prompt type:

regsvr32 imgadmin.ocx

Repeat for:

regsvr32 imgedit.ocx
regsvr32 imgscan.ocx
regsvr32 imgthumb.ocx

(Unregistering is regsvr32 imgadmin.ocx /u)

4. Now when you double-click Kodakimg.exe the program should load ok.

5. Finally, change the association of .tif and .tiff files in WinXP Explorer to point to kodakimg.exe.

It IS in ME. Wife's machine has a clean install of ME and Kodak is there.
Problem is that files that display on ME machine are invalid format for XP
Pro. Files are JPG and created off a Canon digital camera. Tis a puzzlement.

IrfanView handles TFF format easily. A decent program in all other respects,
as well.

I like Irfan for changing files names and extentions, but for plain
viewing etc. I stick with vueprint, plus if you install it you get the
picture icons on your computer.. vueicons.. www.hamrick.com

Re picture icons - ditto. Took me a moment to comprehend...since I always
have had my JPEGs represented by the image icon... and then realized that a
have always used that little gadget, GIcons. :)...I like Irfan for a decent
format/size conversion/resampling. Resizing is performed even cleaner than
MS Power Toy.
