Well...

I have used this fine under previous versions of RedHat without any
issues, but tonight I did a clean install, of RH8 and don't appear to have
any sound :-\

Soooo, the system is RH8 as mentioned above, and the card in question is a
VideoLogic SonicFury (ie a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz)

sndconfig & the GUI equivalent both detect the card, and my modules.conf
file contains...

alias sound-slot-0 cs46xx
options cs46xx cs_debuglevel=9 powerdown=0
pre-install cs46xx modprobe -k ac97_codec

...but a dmesg reveals no mention of the cs46xx driver. A quick trawl
through messages reveals...

Did have a quick tinker with ALSA just to see if it helped...

Oct 28 03:14:36 TowerXP kernel:
ALSA../../alsa-kernel/pci/cs46xx/cs46xx_lib.c:2895: cs46xx:
cs46xx_setup_eapd_slot() Failure to write the GPIO pins for slot 12.

...evidentally not!!

If anyone has any suggestions - even if its me being extremely stupid,
they will be welcomed with open arms!!

If it's the wrong newsgroup, or there is a better newsgroup for my
enquiry, feel free to point me in the right direction!! It's now 4:48am
and I have to get up for work at 8am, so I'd best get some sleep now!!

Thankyou in advance...

Scott
