This is what I have found out on the subject of editors to
use on SER: - perhaps something for the FAQ?

Group 1: Vt100/ANSI only

Several people have done just what I said I would do:
Hacked on some version of MicroEmacs to make it work
on SER:. I have tried one that m...@madvie.at (Max Hantsch)
has made and it worked fine. d8s...@dtek.chalmers.se
(Christer Sundin) and je...@truevision.com (Jerry Thompson)
also offered to send their versions.

dr...@cgou11.enet.dec.com (Steve Drew) has mentioned in
the July 1990 issue of Amazing Computing that he also
has one, but I havn't got any reply from him.

Group 2: Any terminal support

According to v...@gnu.ai.mit.edu (Viet Ho), Hen...@stolaf.edu
who is porting GNUemacs has support for SER: in the new (next?)
release.

rod...@netcom.com (Ben Discoe) works on a commercial product
called dBMAN V that includes support for any terminal. He considers
porting the editor part to the Amiga if there is an interest.

Group 3: Raw terminal support

bmer...@uceng.UC.EDU (Deron E Meranda) has written a powerful
line editor which is very portable and supports multiple files.
I havn't tried it yet. This could be used on terminals that
does not support cursor addressing etc.

Thanks to everyone who sent information. BBS programmers: Please include
one of the Emacs clones for vt100 in your next release.

Regards / Jonas

If there is enough interest (I would be interested :-) ), maybe someone
could upload the microemacs version with vt100 support to ab20...

Several people have asked for the emacses that I got hold of, but some
of them left bad return addresses, so I havn't been able to get in touch
with then. Anyway, the interest was enough to make me realize that we
need it at ab20. It is now in incoming in a file named "Avt100emacs.lzh".
Note that this is a very small one with no doc at all, but it works pretty
well and is a MicroEmacs 3.9 derivate.
