Charlie's Chatterings - Monday 14th September 1998

Pear Tree Cottage
Kim is on the phone to Zoe, she is coming over for dinner at 8pm. Steve
is feeling anxious about the theft. Kim is quite calm. They are
meeting Ms Dixon at 1pm. She tells him to calm down, the more people
who see them going about their normal routine the better.

Kathy's Diner
Will is having a birthday breakfast, Marlon is trying to line his
stomach to cope with all the booze. Kathy checks that Biff is still on
for dinner tonight. Biff says it is fine and then they can go on to the
party afterwards. They start to talk about Betty still being annoyed at
Biff.

Oakwell Hall
Michael asks Tara if she will miss Oakwell when she moves to Thornfield,
and tells her to enjoy her last night of freedom. He chacks once more
that this is what she wants and she tells him that it is. He tells her
that he will see her tomorrow as the new Lady Thornfield.

Home Farm
Kim meets Steve who has been made to dig manure in by Chris. Chris
comes over and starts having a go at Steve. Kim has a snap at him.

Woolpack
Alan is setting the pub up. Will comes in and orders a pint. Alan
won't give him it until he has had a word with him. They go and sit
down and Alan starts on a lecture about how with adulthood comes
responsibilities, and he is at one of the milestones in his life. Roy
comes in and starts to drink his pint. Terry tells him its for Will,
but Roy points out that if he's having Turner's gospel then he will be
hours and the lager will be flat.

Home Farm
Laura is trying to get Kim to come into the office for a meeting but she
is about to exercise the horses so she walks them off. Steve leaves the
gardens to meet her and bangs into Chris. He tells him he is taking his
lunch hour but Chris isn't happy and lectures him on how he should be
out to impress as he might get a promotion. Steve tells him that he
might not be around for that long as he has things in the pipeline.

Post Office
Ashley is trying to talk Viv and Vic into doing the Fun Run with little
success. Will and Roy are buying booze and are happy to get away
without a lecture on the evils of drink.

Woods behind Home Farm
They are ready to do the horse swap. Ms Dixon is already in her
position. Kim cautiously passes Orsino over to Steve to hand on.

ADVERTS

Lane
Steve walks the horse to the Range Rover, and meets Ms Dixon and her
heavies. He ties the horse up so that she can inspect it whilst he
checks the money. Everything is fine and the swap is completed.

Diner
Roy and Marlon are discussing the party, Kathy asks if they have heard
from Seth (why not ask Betty??) and they say he's got to stay with his
sister for longer. Kathy suggests that maybe she tries to talk to Betty
about Biff.

Home Farm
Steve buries the money in the garden. Chris comes up and gets at him
for being late back from lunch, he gets 10 minutes wages docked. Steve
says he'll make the time up at the end of the day.

Cottage
Kathy drops round to see Betty to talk about the evictions. She tells
her that Biff is worried about her. Betty states she won't accept
charity. Kathy tries to convince her that Biff really cares for Betty
and Seth. Betty says if he really cared he would have finished it with
Tara the day he knew about the evictions. Kathy pointed out that this
is what he did but Betty's having none of it. Kathy tells her that Biff
is trying to put things right. Betty says she thinks he's trying to
solve a guilty conscience. Kathy thinks Betty's pride is getting in the
way.

Home Farm
Kim is closing up the stables. The guard comes over and she tells him
she's already checked them all. He thanks her for saving her some time.

Woolpack
Paddy is trying to talk to Mandy but she won't speak to him. Scott
comes in with 2 girls, Alan makes them show him their IDs before they
get to have a drink. Scott complains that the party is dead.

Cottage
Kim and Steve are celebrating at home, they can't believe how easy it
was. He tests the tape and Kim sends him to the Woolpack for the wine.
The more people that know about them having a night in the better.

Restaurant
Kathy suggests to Biff that he uses the money to buy something for
himself. She tells him that he's got a lot of friends in the village
and things will get easier for him. He's not so sure. He tells her how
everyone thought it was just a fling between him and Tara but it
wasn't. Kathy says that it couldn't have meant a lot to her or she
wouldn't be marrying someone else.

Hen Party
Lucy is talking to Tara about how good a catch Michael is and how lucky
she is. She tells her that she thinks she made the right choice in
Michael, she's sure Tara would get bored of Biff's physical attractions
after a while.

Woolpack
Rachel is sat on her own, Graham comes over and joins her to keep her
company until Kathy arrives. Steve is asking Alan to recommend some
wine, he manages to drop in that they are having Zoe for dinner at home.

Restaurant
Kathy is telling Biff about how Betty wouldn't listen to her, Biff isn't
surprised. Kathy tells him that Betty will come round now he has
finished it with Tara. He points out to her that Linda is dead and his
private life is his own. She tells him again that things will get
easier. He tells her that he can't help how he feels, he feels
confused. She tells him to talk to her about it. Biff replies that she
has made her feelings clear and that he is leaving now whilst they are
still mates, cause if he stays then they won't be for much longer
(*YEAH!! Go Biff!!). He goes out for a ride on his bike.

Hen Party
Tara is crying whilst all her friends sing, for she's a jolly good
fellow. Lucy is comforting her by telling her not to worry that Michael
will make her happier than Alex.

Cottage
Kim and Zoe and Steve are finishing dinner. Steve excuses himself to
make some phone calls. Kim tells Zoe that he is calling old business
acquaintances to try and see if there are any jobs going.

Woolpack
Jack is doing a 'proud father' talk about Will. Scott is trying to
convince the girls to talk to Roy but they think he is a dork and fancy
WIll instead. Paddy is still trying to talk to Mandy but she won't talk
to him and then she goes up and does kareoke, singing a sexy song to
Will.

Cottage
Kim is checking her watch. Zoe is playing with James. She suggests
that Kim and Steve go to the party and leave her in charge of James.
Kim talks her way out of it. Steve is upstairs putting his milk tray
man gear on.

Oakwell Hall Summerhouse
Biff walks up to the summerhouse and opens the door. He walks inside
and picks up a teddy of Tara's, he's holding it when the door opens and
Tara comes in..........
