THE Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were represented by Baroness
Farrington of Ribbleton at a memorial service for Lord Williams of
Mostyn, QC, Lord Privy Seal and Leader of the House of Lords since
2001, held 20 January, 2004, at Westminster Abbey.

The Prince of Wales was represented by Lord Morris of Aberavon, QC.

The Dean of Westminster officiated, assisted by the Rev Chris Chivers,
Minor Canon. Mr Malcolm Craddock and Miss Victoria Sharp, QC, led
prayers in English and Professor Derec Llwyd Morgan, Senior
Vice-Chancellor, University of Wales, Aberystwyth, in Welsh.

Earl Ferrers and Lord Dholakia read the lesson and the Hon Imogen
Russell Williams, daughter, read her own poem, Sestina.

Mr Jack Straw, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth
Affairs, and Lord Steyn gave addresses.

The Rev Graeme Napier, Minor Canon and Succentor, was robed and seated
in the Sanctuary.

During the service Miss Nicola Hughes, soprano, sang September and
Frühling by Richard Strauss with The Royal Welsh College of Music and
Drama Symphonia, conducted by Mr Howard Williams.

The Secretary of State for Constitutional Affairs and Lord Chancellor,
accompanied by Lady Falconer of Thoroton, was present.

The Prime Minister and HM Government was represented by Mr John
Prescott, Deputy Prime Minister.
