Derek Jeter steals Alex Rodriguez's girl

Texas Ranger Alex Rodriguez may have scored the bigger pay package, but Yankee
shortstop Derek Jeter got the girl.
Jeter bore the brunt of A-Rod's barbs back in March when the Texas shortstop
scored a whopping $252 million, 10-year contract - as opposed to Jeter's
"paltry" $189 million over 10 years.
But Rodriguez's mouth was slammed shut when he introduced his crush to Jeter
and the Yankee star ran off with her, sources told The Post.
Rodriguez met Joy Enriquez, 22, when the hot young Latina singer belted out the
national anthem at a game in Puerto Rico earlier this year.
The Texas Ranger was immediately smitten and asked Enriquez to be his date at
the All-Star Game in Seattle July 10.
Enriquez, a sultry brunette who lives in Los Angeles, accepted the invitation,
but pals said she never had romantic feelings for Rodriguez.
At the All-Star Game, Rodriguez introduced her to Jeter, his best pal - and
fierce on-the-field rival - and she immediately hit it off with him.
"Joy wasn't exactly sure of Alex's intentions, but she and Derek just couldn't
keep their eyes off each other," said one of Enriquez's pals.
Since the All-Star Game, Enriquez and Jeter have gone out several times, to
dinner or to ball games, and pals said the two are now officially dating -
despite the bicoastal difficulties.
"Joy is in New York a lot because of her music, and she has an album coming out
in September," the pal added. Enriquez's album is coming out mid-September on
the Arista label.
Enriquez was back in town last night to cheer on her man against the Seattle
Mariners - taking her usual seat behind home plate. She got a special thrill
when Jeter crushed a home run.
At the plate, Jeter sometimes glanced back at Enriquez - who was hard not to
look at, in her tight-fitting jeans and a sexy, silky red camisole top.
But Jeter wasn't too distracted - he smacked a leadoff home run in the first
inning as Enriquez looked on excitedly.
After the 4-0 Yankee victory, Enriquez waited in Jeter's silver Mercedes for
the star shortstop to leave the stadium, before they drove off together.
There was no word on where the couple headed.
Enriquez is expected to be back behind home plate again today before she heads
back to Los Angeles to prepare for her new role on the WB's "Seventh Heaven."
Jeter has officially been single since he and Mariah Carey broke up several
years ago, despite his being linked to Miss Universe Lara Dutta.
"They were just friends - he tried to date her, but Lara wasn't into it," a pal
of the beauty queen said.
Good thing Enriquez doesn't feel the same way.
It's unclear whether Jeter's friendship with A-Rod will be strained by the
Latina beauty. In the past, although Alex and Derek have exchanged ribbings,
they've appeared to remain the closest of friends.
