dear all.

i have bought 4 CV428's which i have been assured are 807's, they have
the same cap as the 807 however they have an 8 pin loktal base, does
anyone out there have the pin out for this, and are these things really
807's ?

look forward to hearing from you.

From the STC (ITT) data sheet:

Type 5B/254M Beam-Power Amplifier
(you will see this no. on the glass as well as CV428)

"This valve is an indirectly heated, beam-power tetrode electrically similiar
to the 807 type and of reliable construction"

pins 1, 8 heater
pins 2, 4, 7 k, bp
pin 3 g2
pins 5, 6 g1
anode is top cap.

"VENTILATION
As this valve runs very hot in operation the equipment should be designed so
that adequate ventilation is afforded to ensure a safe bulb temperature under
all conditions of operation."

Dear Bill

Yes, these are STC compact version of the 807. Advise me of your
postal address and I will photocopy and send relevant spec sheets.

Should note too they do have a topcap, as does an 807, but not like it, or the
same; it's smaller, more like the EL5xx or PL5xx type tubes, or the same as.

GREAT! THAT is a VALVE - not a TUBE!!
Hehe - a British made equivalent to the 807 only much smaller.

The 5933 looks similar I think, but uses the 5-pin base.

Also a 6BG6-G is the larger version with 8-pin (octal) socket base.

Looks and acts JUST like an 807 only different base.
And they are MUCH cheaper to buy!

The 6BG6 uses different pin connections though!
PIN 1 = N/C
PINS 2,7 - heater
3 = Cathode & G3
4,6 = N/C ??
5 = G1
8 = G2

Anode/Plate = CAP

6BG6-G tubes are VERY cheap and plentiful at the moment!
