Gary Roberts had a goal and two assists as host Calgary defeated Washington.
Doug Gilmour, Sergei Makarov, Theoren Fleury, and Brian MacLellan each has a
goal and an assist for the Flames. Washington goalie Mike Liut was pulled at
8:04 of the second in favor of Don Beaupre after allowing six goals.

host New York Rangers defeated Hartford. Mike Richter made 26 saves for the
Rangers, who extended their lead in the Patrick to eight points. Hartford
dropped into a third-place tie with the Buffalo Sabres.
