Quebec Nordiques called up right winger Ken Quinney and left winger Jeff
Jackson from Halifax of the AHL.

Ed Belfour made 34 saves, 20 in the third period, for his NHL-leading 23rd
victory as Chicago continued its mastery of New York at Nassau Coliseum. The
Blackhawks improved to 6-0-3 at the Coliseum since a 7-6 loss Oct. 13, 1984.
Chicago, which rebounded after a 5-0 loss in Buffalo, leads the NHL with 55
points.

Calgary snapped a four-game losing streak. Calgary is only three games above
.500 (10-7-1) at home, where it had lost four in row. The Flames took out their
frustration on Hartford, taking a 7-0 lead after two periods.

Host New Jersey took a franchise-record 54 shots against Buffalo but needed
Brendan Shanahan's goal with 2:06 remaining in regulation to salvage a tie. The
Devils outshot Buffalo, 54-17, but were on the verge of losing before Shanahan
tucked Viacheslav Fetisov's pass into a wide-open net at 17:54. The tie
extended the Devil's overall unbeaten streak to seven games (3-0-4) and
lengthened their home unbeaten streak to nine (5-0-4). The 54 shots were the
most by any team in the NHL this season.

the NHL's hottest team. Toronto, with its fourth victory in five games,
remained one point ahead of Quebec in the race to stay out of last place in

overcome a two-goal deficit and salvage a tie. The North Stars thought they
had scored the game-winner 2:12 into the overtime, but the referee Andy

Sure. It didn't go in. When they ran the replays, it was difficult to determine if the puck hit the crossbar, or the underside of the top of the net. However, when they ran the replay in slo mo, it was clear that it did in fact hit the crossbar (BTW, the red light did come on, which caused all the confusion). Moog made a couple of fine stops during all of this, I might add.

It sure did. I entered the scores on my word processor at home. When it wrote
over the old filename, it put a 0 for end of file. My terminal program for my
modem doesn't recognize that as EOF but transfers everything through the
entire file length (which was the old file length). So what you saw was some
old scores from last week. Sorry. I only proofread about half of it after I
uploaded it.
