[Ranford is the only goalie to play every minute of every game. I'm sure Takko
is pleased as punch about the trade. HA! just as I was about to send this,
I saw that Ranford was hurt in today's game and Takko got to play. We'll see
how he did tomorrow (I already know, but I'll save it for the box scores).]

Neely received a match penalty for whacking a Whaler (forgot the name)
over the head in the 3rd period. Less than 2 minutes later, John
Carter picked up a slashing major, leaving the Bruins 2 men down for a
long time. Two of the Whalers 4 goals were scored when the B's were 2
men short. The other 2 were also power play goals. All in all, a
pretty dismal way to lose a hockey game.

What was the deal with Milbury? I have heard and seen bits/pieces of
Mike trying to go over the plexiglass to get at the Hartford coach.
However, the paper didn't mention anything and I seemed to have missed the ESPN
coverage. What happened? Looked like they needed a couple of guys to pull
Mike of the divider between the benches....

Did they run at Moog? I know Boston *hates* that.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that. Yes, they were running at Moog (and
at Lemelin the next night). Sometime in the 2nd period Krygier (sp?)
charged the net and made a half-hearted attempt to stop before hitting
Moog with a pretty good elbow. No, he wasn't pushed in the crease, he
went in under his own power. Moog's neck snapped back and hit the
crossbar, and he fell to the ice. Needless to say, many Bruins took
exception to that, and a decent brawl broke out. Moog ended up ok, a
couple of matching fighting majors were called, and Krygier got a
major penalty. While all this was happening, Milbury started
screaming at Rick Ley and apparently tried to climb over the
plexiglass to the Hartford bench. A couple of Bruins held Milbury
back as he continued to scream at Ley (who screamed back, of course).

The net outcome of all this was that Hartford suddenly got their heads
back into the game (despite the 5 minute penalty) and, with the help
of a couple more majors, came back and won the game.

As someone mentioned in the paper the other day ... do ya think they made
this deal so they could call it the "Takko-Bell" trade?

(Actually, there are only a handful of Taco Bell franchises here.)

I have to disagree with you there. After watching that part of the second period
over and over on videotape, I am quite confident that Krygier was pushed by
Bourque into the crease. Bourque's arms have just straightened out on the
overhead view as Krygier hit Moog, and Bourque is not a weak individual. He
never could have stopped, and I must conclude the five minute penalty was
unwarranted. Dean Evason, however, did take one shot in each game at each
goaltender, and those deserved penalties that were not issued. I also must
think that Poulin's crosscheck that broke Ron Francis' nose was intentional. But,
that is not for me to decide. The tape has been sent to the NHL.

Great, and it's a trade between a US team and a Canadian team. I guess the
players' trips to their new teams will also be referred to as a "run for the
border"? :-) :-)

(Sorry, I'm a punster and couldn't resist.)
