I stated in an earlier post that the Tor/NYI game had only 2 min in penalties.
I was incorrect. Another game said there was only 1 power-play which made me
think only 1 penalty, but there was at least a pair of coincidental roughing
penalties. So it's definitely no record.

LA - Acquired center John McIntyre from Toronto for center Mike Krushelnyski;
re-assigned goaltender Darryl Gilmour from New Haven of the AHL to Phoenix
of the IHL.

Tor - Acquired left wing Robert Cimetta from Boston for Defenseman Steve
Bancroft; sent goaltender Alan Beste (or is that Bester) to Newmarket of
the AHL; recalled left wing Joe Sacco from Newmarket.

Defensive ace Jan Erixon scored a goal and setup two more in the first period,
and John Vanbiesbrouck made 37 saves as NYR held off NJ, 3-2.

The Rangers won for the eight time in their last 11 games and opened a 6-point
lead in the Patrick Division over the idle Washington Capitals. The Devils, who
opened the season with a 7-0-1 streak at home, lost their second in a row at the
Meadowlands.

Indeed not. Buffalo and some other team played a penalty-less game about
ten years ago.
