I urge everyone to join the Blue Ribbon Campaign, sponsored by the
Electronic Frontier Foundation, to oppose the violation of the First
Amendment contained in the huge Telecommunications bill.

These provisions ban "indecent" speech on the Internet, without ever
defining what is meant by that. The backers of the bill are the
Christian Coalition, that freedom-loving organization (NOT!)

The backers of the provisions claim they want to protect children. But
child porn is already illegal: these provisions are so broad they
may very well apply to literary works like Catcher in the Rye, to
abortion and safe sex information. These provisions are most likely
unconstitutional (the ACLU and many others are pursuing legal action).

Let parents decide what's appropriate for children, not the government.

People are also making the backgrounds of their pages black for a 48
hour period in an online protest called A Thousand Points of Darkness.
