According to its typo-laden "2000 Welcome Guide & Map", HersheyPark
is, in quotes, "America's `cleanest and greenest theme park'" without
attribution. It isn't. No, it's not dirty but it's no cleaner than
many other places. Yes, it's green but other places are just as
green.
COMET's front seat is almost a family ride. In spite of the
very heavy braking on the second turn there's light air throughout.
In the rear there are hints of air on the first two drops but it
creeps on the return. In spite of the fact that it has skid brakes,
the stop is very awkward. It also has non-ratcheting bars and seat
dividers. Ho hum.
LIGHTNING RACER is another non-union Custom Coasters, Inc.
creation and, as is proving to be their norm, it's another good ride.
Lightning's (red train) front has lotsa nice air; the rear five light
smashbar touches and one float. Thunder's (green train) front seat is
a beautiful ride with hints of air throughout and one nice float; the
rear has some nice air and two floats. When the ride was warmed up,
both seats on each train delivered mildly, not great but enough to
keep me, and perhaps you, smiling.
The WILDCAT's rear is very rough with little air. It's a nice
design that doesn't deliver. Although the front has the right kind of
roughness and good air, it was a bit too rough for me. It also had a
very rough station/chain transition. I didn't like the ride at all.
The WILD MOUSE (steel) certainly is! In fact, it's the
fastest and wildest Mouse I've ever seen and it's run the way such
rides should be run; four on the way down, one on the way up, and
three non-stop in the station. Wild, Mahn. It delivers some air and
strong laterals.
The Mouse's bash bar hurt me so bad that I feared an internal
injury. First Aid was called and they took me to the infirmary for
examination. When they reported my blood pressure, it was the highest
reading I'd ever seen. Of course my first thought was that I'd been
eating too much grease but my pulse was also very high at least
twenty minutes after the incident during which I'd mostly just stood
or sat around. One of the examiners noticed that there was some
redness where I had indicated the injury was to which I said "I'm
glad. Now you know I ain't jivin'".
They "suggested" that I lie down for a while. After ten
minutes or so, they remeasured my blood pressure and pulse, each of
which had returned to normal. Hell, they didn't need a red mark to
know I wasn't jivin'. My internal systems proved it! There was no
bruise or lasting injury but it sure hurt when it happened. Every
injury on gravity devices I've ever received in my life (except one)
was caused by so-called "safety" devices.
superdooperLooper (steel) has no over the shoulder restraints
thus making it a very nice, though mild, ride. It's smooth until one
gets to the absolutely horrid stop.
TRAILBLAZER (steel) is reminiscent of Magic Mountain's Gold
Rusher. It's a smooth ride through nice scenery.
FLYING FALCON, that I saw but did not get to ride in Gurnee,
Illinois, is nothing but a Calypso (first seen, gloriously, at
PlayLand in San Antonio on m'way to the Rocket) on a tower. Well, if
you like that type of ride, and I do, the tower's a nice, but
unaugmenting, touch.
EVERYBODY DANCE, DANCE, DANCE has a cast of fourteen singers
and dancers, none fat. It proved to be a pleasant break.

Lightning Racer is a GCI racer, not a CCI

Sounds like somebody needs a break from all their travelling and riding. Way
too much complaining from someone who usually writes interesting TR's.

As Sam said, Lightning Racer is a GCI creation, just like Wildcat, Gwazi and
the two Roars. Front seat right of Wildcat is my favorite seat on any woodie
of the 60 or so I've ridden. I do agree, however, that the ride has gotten a
bit rough.

At least you acknowledge that Hershey's Wild Mouse is the best. It is. How
you could get hurt on it and require medical attention is beyond me.
Trailblazer is the least interesting of any mine train I've ridden. Flying
Falcon is a Condor ride. Several others exist across the US and Canada, namely
at Great Escape and La Ronde. Why is there no mention of Great Bear, the very
fun and unique B&M inverted coaster?

Knocking Knoebels and Hershey in the same week will not gain you many fans.

Steelforce has informed me that "Lightning Racer is a GCI racer, not a
CCI"

I regret, and apologize for, the error and thank Steelforce for his
courtesy in preventing the mis-accreditation from standing.

If the reference is to me, thank you. If not, someone should thank you.

> At least you acknowledge that Hershey's Wild Mouse is the best.

I usually don't ride 'em because they're identical but there was
something about that one that drew me to it. I'm glad, in spite of
getting hurt, it did.

It happened. Had there been no painbar, it would not have.

Because I didn't ride it and probably because it looked like a familiar
ride. I'm making it a point to avoid rides with over-the-shoulder
restraints unless they're obviously unique. I don't like pain.

I think I knocked neither. Will you please cite? If my response is not
prompt it's because I've gone to The Greater Phoenix Swing Dance Club's
annual convention, the very best convention of the year! I can hardly
wait the 22 hours remaining before my flight. I'll return Monday.

Just curious why you would mention that Great Bear looks like a familiar
ride? Familiar to what? It may have a very weak second half but I would
hardly call it familiar. It's also the smoothest and least painfull coaster
with OTS harnesss I have ever been on. It may be a little boring but still
worth a ride.

I don't remember now but it apparently looked like a ride with which I'm
acquainted.

I did and I'm sure I had a good reason, aside from the over-the-shoulder
restraints, for skipping it.

NOW you tell me!!!

Maybe next time if any there be.
