If you download shareware read this now!

Your modem is great for keeping you up to date with new software
and all, but the problem is you're probably spending way too much
to download the software.

If you are paying $35 to $300 or more monthly downloading the
latest and greatest shareware you know what I mean.

I used to spend over $300 monthly just downloading software for
my own personal use and to add to my private access bbs. $300
monthly adds up quickly (I could have bought at least one
complete multimedia system for the money I spent downloading
shareware).

I've devised a method for you to get an entire years worth of
downloads from hundreds of bbs systems for less than $6 monthly!
I'm gonna pass this "secret" on to you (and 50,000 other INTERNET
users) because WE CAN ALL BENEFIT and SAVE TIME and SAVE MONEY
from what I've learned.

HERE'S HOW you can get an entire years worth of all the
downloaded shareware compiled from the best bbs and pay-for-
access systems in the entire USA for almost nothing. The trick
is to make all your downloads cost-effective by POOLING
RESOURCES.

You need to find others who share your software likes, then
arrange for one person (a team leader) to download all of the
files at his or her expense - then you and the other club members
reimburse him for his on-line time, bbs membership dues, floppy
diskette charges, postage and handling, etc.

Each member must actively participate (by contributing
monetarily) otherwise the individual who paid for the downloads
is stuck with several hundred dollars in fees.

You can get an entire year's worth of downloads for only about $6
- $12 monthly by participating in such a group. Of course the
team leader runs the risk of having to get those who've agreed to
participate to actually participate. Otherwise that team leader
will have to "eat" the costs.

Your team leader must search and download all the new files from
as many bbs's as the team leader has time and resources for.

It is probably best to stick to only one catergory so that you
can more easily locate participants who share your interests.

Here are some of the advantages to getting your software via a
shareware pool:

1) Getting shareware costs less.
2) You can get a greater quantity of shareware quicker and without
having to wait for downloads.
3) Someone else foots the bill for on-line memberships, long
distance calls, etc.
4) The shareware you receive will already be archived to floppy
diskettes for you, so you don't have to hassle with
transferring the software to diskettes.
5) Someone else ties up their phone lines, so you don't have to
tie up yours. If you have to answer to anyone else because of
long distance charges or because you tie up the phone too
long, now you can shut them up :)

Is it really worth it to participate in a shareware club?

Well, take a look at your last six phone bills, didn't you pay
more than $6 monthly to get shareware? How much more are you
paying monthly? Probably a significant amount more.

Take a look at your monthly statements from those pay-for-access
bbs systems. Did you pay more than $6 monthly to receive
shareware? I bet you paid way more than $6!

So now that you know how to save money and get MORE shareware for
less, go to it. Find others who share your interests!

<long stuff about "shareware clubs" deleted>

I see you're on Compuserve, and this might be valid there, but on the
internet, we have no need for "shareware clubs", because (for the most
part) we can get shareware free from FTP sites. Now, if you want to post
this at Compuserve you can do that, but please don't cross-post it
here....

I usually download from local BBS's and from local Internet
access where I can FTP files to the local host and then download
them to my PC via a local call. My occasional long distance calling
is only for occasional 'HOT' items and virus protection updates,
neither end up costing me over $6 per month at 14.4 baud. For
a private BBS owner I suppose you could rack up a bill like that,
but that's why I call local BBS's -- so THEY can pay $300. That's
why I pay them subscription fees.

Re: shareware
I looked at my phone bill -- no extra charges for Internet access
We pay for a monthly access, but that is used mainly for email and
reading newsgroups. I download a few games now and then.

But-- I have a friend who belongs to AOL and her charges are terrific.
I download the games and then snail disks to her.

We are good friends now, but the trick is to get the OTHER PERSON(S)
to send you disks and postage BEFORE you use time to copy and mail.

Our access is flat rate--not hourly. Besides, there are several
local BBS with files to download free. Who needs a club? I guess
the members of on-line services or hourly commercial access, but here
most seem to be students with free access or a flat rate like mine.
