I might soon come into possession of a moderate quantity of
grain alcohol (Everclear). Anyone know of recipes in which this
stuff could be used?

Being a drinker of fine Scotch (MacAllan) and Rum (Mt. Gay Spec. Reserve),
I have discounted any attempts at making ersatz versions of same.

I have made Kahlua before, as well as Welches+Grain in ye olde
college days gone by, but I'm looking for something different.

I did try some time ago the "flavored carbonated mineral water" + grain.
Not bad if the alcohol concentration was kept low enough.

FYI: I detest sweet drinks or those made with milk.

Thank-you for your support, (Visualize Whirled Peas),

i've compiled a large list of information about grain alcohol;
it is FTP'able from ftp.u.washington.edu [128.95.136.1]
and has the filename FAQ-Everclear. It is long overdue for
updating, but doing so has been low on my list of priorities
lately. For recipies, it ought to be adequate.

If anybody has additions for the list, i'm still working on it...
just very slowly.

the biggest thing about everclear is that it has a kick to it so you
should drink a bit less of it to get a similar effect as what you
currently drink
- straight: in a shot glass with a coke chaser
- mixed with anything vodka can be mixed with, such as:
orange juice for a screwdriver
tomato juice for a bloody mary

Ahh, yes! Two days ago, I came up with this dandy:

10-12 ounces of the new Crystal Pepsi

1 shot Everclear

Its called: Crystal Clear!

Enjoy, and don't drink too much of it. Its good going down, but death-like
when it comes back up...

When we were in college (read: young and stupid) we favored the 'chocolate
sledgehammer', made from shots of grain alcohol followed by chocolate
milk. This really wasn't a *bad* combination, just strange.

Please do be careful when you do shots of everclear. It can lead to
projectile vomiting, poisoning, etc. Enjoy in moderation.

It doesn't sound wise to drink 190 proof liquor straight, but if
you want to, and you hate sweet drinks, try it really cold, and
with a few drops (however you might prefer) of Tabasco. Works
well with vodka, too.
