•CRUISE AND KIDMAN RUSH BACK TO LONDON TO FINISH FILMING: Hollywood husband and
wife team TOM CRUISE and NICOLE KIDMAN have cut short their Australian holiday
to finish director STANLEY KUBRICK's new movie EYES WIDE SHUT in London.
Filming has drifted well past its scheduled wrap last May and has now become
one of the longest-ever shoots to involve major stars. Cruise and Kidman had
reportedly begged Kubrick to finish the film in time for Christmas so they
could relax in Australia with their children CONOR and ISABELLA and Kidman's
mother and sister. The couple were due to fly direct to Los Angeles from Sydney
to begin shooting a remake of the 1940s classic I MARRIED A WITCH. Now bosses
at WARNER BROTHERS have ordered perfectionist Kubrick, who has forced Cruise
and Kidman to re-shoot scenes countless times, to finish the film this month.
The pair flew out of Sydney on Monday after being told to return to London to
begin three nights' filming at a downtown shopping center. One production
insider reveals, "They went off to Sydney for a well-earned rest and to recover
from their intensive working schedule. But they were told to get back and
finish off scenes at Hamley's before they could on to America even though they
wanted to head straight there." Even the Hollywood royalty has to get back to
work sometime.

•ELVIS TO TOUR IN '98: Continuing in the current, highly profitable tradition
repackaging old entertainers for "reunion" tours instead of actually bothering
to pay attention to any new entertainers, some genius has decided to dig up the
corpse of ELVIS PRESLEY and send it out on tour. Well, okay, they aren't
actually going to use his corpse, but pretty damn close. Elvis Presley
Enterprises is mounting a massive production with a 16-piece orchestra and
Elvis's original concert tour musicians backing vintage movie footage of The
King singing his songs on a giant video screen. (Look kids!! It's a giant video
of Elvis!! The video footage has left the building…) This kind of "Virtual
Elvis" made his first appearances last year at ceremonies marking the 20th
anniversary of the live Elvis' death. The tour was announced Thursday, on what
would have been the JAILHOUSE ROCK star's 63rd birthday. I cannot adequately
comment on how much this news nauseates me. Do we really need to pay $40 a
ticket to all watch video footage together??? Do the words "get a life" mean
anything to anybody???

•NICOLAS CAGE GOES UP IN THE WORLD: NICOLAS CAGE is said to be taking his
latest role as SUPERMAN very seriously - and it's costing him a fortune. The
Oscar-winning actor is leaving nothing to chance as he prepares himself for the
role of the Man of Steel in TIM BURTON's new film. But researching the part
doesn't come cheap. The LEAVING LAS VEGAS star has already spent $10,000 on
Superman comics. And he is now having to shell out another $100,000 on a home
library to keep his super store of comics in perfect condition. Life is a bitch
when you have more money than sense.

•SPEAKING OF SUPERMAN… Former SUPERMAN star CHRISTOPHER REEVE has been offered
the role of the superhero's dad in the new MAN OF STEEL movie. Reeve, who was
paralyzed in a horse riding accident has been asked to play JOR-EL by director
TIM BURTON. He is currently considering the offer. It would be pretty cool if
he did it, though.

•JACKSON FAMILY SUED FOR MILLIONS: The mother and brother of MICHAEL JACKSON
are being sued for not returning $3.6 million of stock in a bankrupt multimedia
company. RANDY JACKSON received the stock when he joined TOTAL MULTIMEDIA, a
company based in Camarillo, California. The company filed for bankruptcy
protection in 1993. In American bankruptcy law, Randy should have given his
stock back or paid its value. But the former JACKSON FIVE star had already
transferred the stock to his mother KATHERINE. Now, according to a lawsuit
filed in Van Nuys Superior Court on Thursday, the stock must be returned. But
Jackson lawyer BRIAN OXMAN says, "TMM is one of the biggest frauds that ever
defrauded anybody. Other than that, I know nothing about their lawsuit."

•NO WILL LEFT BY JOHN DENVER: JOHN DENVER's multi million dollar estate is set
to be divided equally among his children. The ANNIE'S SONG singer/songwriter,
who died in a plane crash in October did not leave a will. So his earnings,
estimated at $20 million are to be shared between ZACHARY, 23, ANNA KATE, 21,
and eight-year-old JESSE BELLE. But the news is not being taken well by
Denver's second wife, Jesse's mother CASSANDRA DELANEY. Lawyers representing
Delaney, whose five year marriage to the singer ended in 1993, are fighting for
her to take control of the estate. The matter has yet to reach the courts but
sources reckon Delaney's chances of denying money to Denver's two other
children, both adopted during his first marriage to ANNIE MARTELL, are very
slim.

•OK VIDEO: Brit art-rockers RADIOHEAD are releasing an on-the-road documentary
charting their OK COMPUTER world tour. The documentary, made by NO SURPRISES
video-maker GRANT GEE will be premiered on British television before being
released on video. The CREEP bass player ED O'BRIEN says, "We didn't want a
'rockumentary', a warts and all type thing that SPINAL TAP sends up completely
and is brilliant for." And Gee has agreed not to spill the beans on their rock
and roll lifestyle. He adds, "Radiohead deserve more than that." Meanwhile,
frontman THOM YORKE's side project UNKLE is set to release its first single in
May and a full length album this fall. The group also features the talents of
super hot DJ SHADOW and vocals by the equally hot singer RICHARD ASHCROFT of
THE VERVE. The project was masterminded by genius (and more importantly
sometime Diva drug buddy) JAMES LAVELLE of the influential MoWax label, so ya
know its gotta be good…

•RAY CHARLES DONATES MONEY TO HELP TROUBLED YOUTH: Our fell-good story of the
day is that Jazz legend RAY CHARLES has donated $25,000 to a Los Angeles Police
Department program to help troubled teenagers. One thousand 14-18 year olds
will benefit from the program which enables them to see police officers as role
models. The musician - who suffered from a troubled youth in Florida - says, "I
want to do anything that would be helpful to bring them up in a strong and
correct way."

•WHAT A LOSER FROM HELL: RICHARD GERE reportedly got into character for his new
role as a tough Irish guy in THE JACKAL by touring Irish pubs in New York - in
a chauffeur-driven limo. No wonder the movie sucked so bad.

•PUFF DADDY FINALLY BLOWS OUT CANDLE IN THE WIND IN AMERICAN CHARTS: PUFF DADDY
has snubbed out the light of ELTON JOHN'S CANDLE IN THE WIND to take pole
position in the American music charts. The rapper's latest single IT'S ALL
ABOUT THE BENJAMINS shot straight to the top of the BILLBOARD 100 to end the
ROCKET MAN's reign with his "dead blond" tribute to the late DIANA, PRINCESS OF
WALES. America is one of the last countries where the charity record, launched
after the British royal died in a horrific car crash, was still out-selling its
rivals. But, after 14 weeks at the top with 8 million copies sold - Puff Daddy
stormed in with 102,000 sales. A spokesman for SoundScan says, "Puff Daddy has
achieved what a lot of other songs couldn't do - to topple Candle in The Wind
off the top spot. It goes down as the biggest selling charity record in America
of all time." Canadian chart-topper CELINE DION also lassoed GARTH BROOKS'
SEVENS LP off the top of the album charts with LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE. The CD is
selling double the amount in its first few weeks than her previous album
FALLING INTO YOU, which went on to notch up a staggering 25 million in sales.
Ugh.

•TRIAL OF BILL COSBY'S MURDERED SON IS POSTPONED: The trial for the accused
killer of BILL COSBY's son ENNIS has been postponed at least until Spring.
MIKAIL MARKHSEV's trial was scheduled to begin next month but his attorney says
he's busy with another case. Markhasev is accused of gunning down Bill Cosby's
only son last January.

•GOOD ADVICE FOR EVERYONE QUOTE OF THE DAY: "You stop the cocaine for
starters." - Former Brit-pop God, STONE ROSES frontman IAN BROWN on current
Britpoppers OASIS can survive the fame game to become rock legends and not just
another footnote in music history
