When I try to do the windows update, it says i need to be
logged in as the Admin, then I right click and Run As
Admin, it accepts my password.. then it reloads the update
page, and it still tells me to log in as the admin... Any
suggestions? Thanks

Try posting to news:microsoft.public.windowsupdate . They may be able to
answer your question better.

Cannot install Windows Updates. Have disabled anti-virus
program. Running Windows XP.
Error message: The software you are installing has not
passed the Windows Logo Test to verify it's compatibilty
with Windows XP.
SOfware will not be installed. Contact System
Administrator.

Hello Mo,

Clear Temporary Internet Files:

1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Select Tools > Internet Options
3. Second frame, select "Delete Cookies"
4. Delete Files, including all offline content, Click OK
5. Settings Option, Click "View Objects"
6. Right click and remove the Update Class, and CV3 (if they exist)Close
window
7. Back to Internet options, Third Frame, select "Clear History" Click Ok
8. Close Internet Explorer


Delete Windows Update files:

1. Double-click on My Computer.
2. Open the C drive
3. Open the Program Files folder
4. Open the Windows Update folder.
5. Delete everything in the folder except the V4 folder.
6. Next, Open the V4 folder, if it exists.
7. Delete everything in the folder except the iuhist.xml file
8. Close Window

1. Click on Start, then Search, then choose Look In: My computer.
2. Type in the file name WUTemp and click Search Now.
3. Delete any traces of the WUTemp folder

1. Go to C:\Windows\System32
2. if you have a folder called Catroot2 (not Catroot) rename the folder to CR2OLD.

Try Windows Update from Windows start menus. HTH
