A few days ago on ESPN 2 there was a show about a road race in
Nevada. They closed off an 83 mile section of highway, and the idea
was to drive the course in a certain amount of time dictated by what
class you entered. Does anyone have info on this or an adress I could
write to get info? If this is the wrong newsgroup for this question
just let me know. Thanks in advance.

I watched part of this too Justin. Looked cool, didn't it?!

They said the event was called the Pony Express 100 if I recall correct, and
the organizer of the event is 2X 500 champ Rodger Ward. The race is held
around Battle Mountain, NV, on landers county highway 305.

Personally, even with all their emphasis on how dangerous it was, it didn't
look that dangerous really. It appeared to mostly be a straight line, with a
few mild bends in the road.

They also said the race was sanctioned by the Classic Auto Racing Society
(C.A.R.S.), but I've never heard of it. Anyone wanna fill in the details?

The race is called the Silver State Road Race. It is 83 miles from
Hiko to Lund, Nev. It is run once per year. There is a class for
virtually every kind of car, street and racing. If you want to know more,
call Bob Butte at the Las Vegas Speedway 702-643-3333.
