The Russia Hand : A Memoir of Presidential Diplomacy , book by Strobe Talbot,
an American journalist who was Bill Clinton s right hand in Moscow over his
presidency, was issued in the USA.
Talbot s interest to Russia goes back to the 1960s, when Strobe Talbot
graduated from the Russian faculty of the Yale University and started his
post-graduate course in Oxford. He says, he was lucky there to translate memoirs
by Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev into English. However, this luck turned a
double-edged weapon for Talbot: an indirect knock of another Soviet leader,
Leonid Brezhnev written in the memoirs infuriated the Soviet leadership. As a
result, Strobe Talbot was prohibited entry in the USSR for many years.
Strobe Talbot has been working as an international observer with an influential
magazine Time for 20 years. Besides, he shared a hostel room with Bill Clinton
in Oxford. As a result of these friendly relations with Clinton, Strobe Talbot
was appointed US special ambassador to Russia and new independent states of the
former Soviet Union. Later, Talbot was promoted and appointed deputy secretary
of the state, he remained on the post within the whole period of Clinton's
presidency.
The Russia Hand mentioned in the book is not Talbot himself, but Clinton. In
the author s words, success of the US policy toward Russia in the first ten
years after the break-up of the USSR (and Talbot thinks the policy was a
success) is explained by Clinton s consistent support rendered to Boris Yeltsin
as to Russia s only guarantor of its economic and political freedoms.
Talbot thinks that this diplomacy oriented at friendship between the
governmental officials of both countries, doubled by US Vice-president Albert
Gore s efforts who focused on Viktor Chernomyrdin mostly, resulted in numerous
important agreements that changed opinion about Russia s role in the post-Cold
War epoch.
Memoirs about Boris Yeltsin and Viktor Chernomyrdin are not main objective of
the book that describes Russia-America relations under Bill Clinton. However,
there are some spicy moments in the book.
In Talbot s words, Yeltsin was the main object to the US diplomacy oriented at
friendship with the Russian leadership. It was an open secret that Boris Yeltsin
liked drinking alcohol. Talbot s memoirs disclose that he regularly held talks
with American President Clinton being drunk.
Strobe Talbot tells a story about Yeltsin s strange conduct: Bill Clinton was
explaining his position about NATO expansion to Yeltsin over the phone. Quite
unexpectedly, Yeltsin hung up the receiver. Then-foreign minister Andrey Kozyrev
could not explain what was the reason to it, he simply shrugged his shoulders
and said: It happens. Talbot wrote: I understood everything because I knew what
Yeltsin could be, especially in the evening.

December 31, 1969 - January 6, 1970: Clinton travels to Moscow. He later said
"relations between our two countries were pretty good then." He then described
his visit as "a very friendly time, a good atmosphere."
Despite Clinton's claim that January 1970 was "a time of d?nte," relations
between the United States and the Soviet Union were anything but warm. The
Soviets were supplying the North Vietnamese with advisors and anti-aircraft
weapons.
September 7, 1992: Col. Eugene Holmes, USA Ret., signs a notarized statement in
which he asserts that "there is the imminent danger to our country of a draft
dodger becoming Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States." He
later writes that "I believe that he (Clinton) purposefully deceived me, using
the possibility of joining the ROTC as a ploy to work with the draft board to
delay his induction and get a new draft reclassification."...

Clinton's Czech-communist connection

It was it was five days before Christmas in Moscow (Julian calender). A time of
year when Americans are busy converging on family, celebrating Chanukah,
offering prayers of thanksgiving, out caroling, trimming trees, or, as
Christians, preparing to rejoice in the birth of their Savior. But while most
Americans were sharing gifts and worshipping before God, the future President of
the United States was on a pilgrimage to stand in silent tribute and awe before
the mummy of Vladimir Lenin. How did this happen? In late December, 1969 Bill
Clinton crossed the Finnish border into the USSR and boarded a train for Moscow,
the center of world atheism and the capital of the Soviet-Marxist state.
William Jefferson Clinton's journey to the Soviet Union was the climax of a busy
fall semester as a "Rhodes Scholar" at Oxford. It should perhaps be mentioned to
those impressed by such presumed status that Rhodes Scholarships are granted to
individuals passing ideological muster whose sentiments during the interview
process are reflective of acceptable left-wing views to the selection
committees, and not because of good grades.
Once in England, Clinton lived up the expectations of his promoters and joined
the British Peace Council, which was established by the British Communist Party.
Quickly, Clinton helped the council organize other expatriate Americans and
draft-dodgers for anti-war demonstrations on October 15, 1969 and again on
November 16, 1969 in front of the U.S. Embassy in London. The British press, at
that time, reported that the protestors chanted, "Ho, Ho, Ho," and "Ho-Chi Minh,
Viet Cong is gonna win."
Shortly after that, Clinton joined with other pro-communist and anti-American
protestors on a trip to Norway to demonstrate in opposition to that Nation's
desire to join NATO.
Activities such as Clinton's were not at all out of character for Oxford
students during that period and it has been estimated that even today, upwards
of 60 percent of all British professors hold moderate to extreme Socialist
views. For such, the Universities had long been the home recruiting ground of
the international communist movement. Its successes were exemplified by their
recruitment of the traitors Kim Philby and Donald McClean.
While Bill Clinton has never explained who paid for his trip to Moscow, some
sources have him accompanied by a friend and fellow Oxford student, Czech Jan
Kopold. They were to attend a meeting of the War Moratorium Committee to be held
January 2, 1970. Upon arrival, Clinton did not check into a youth hostel, but
rather stayed at the Hotel National, the most exclusive and expensive one in
Moscow of that time -- a ritzy place usually reserved for foreign ambassadors
and high-level Communist Party apparatchiks.
In today's terms, that trip would probably cost several thousand dollars.
Clinton only had his tiny $275 Rhodes stipend to live on and never held a job.
Thus, it is easy to believe that this tab and the arrangements could only have
handled by the KGB, which during that epoch limited no expenses in its attempts
to recruit promising American students in Europe.
Clinton has also never accounted for his time spent in Moscow before the actual
meeting of the War Moratorium and has never revealed who paid his expenses or
what he did or whom he met with during that time. However, for a tourist
visiting Red Square in Moscow, a trip to Lenin's Tomb is usually on the
itinerary. For a visiting leftist, such a visit is as requisite as a Moslem's
visit to the Kabah while in Mecca. Standing before the mummy of the High Priest
of Communism and Atheism on Christmas Day, for a communist, had long represented
a symbolic, ritual act of contempt and abnegation of all the religious,
spiritual, and ethical values which most Americans cherish.
Even more telling was Clinton's return trip from Moscow to England in January
1970 via Prague, then the capital of the Czechoslovakian Soviet Socialist
Republic (CSSR). There, Clinton was a guest of Jan Kopold's father, Bedrich
Kopold and Jan's maternal grandmother Maria Svermova, who was the original
founder of the Czech Communist Party in the 1930s. During his visit, she took a
liking to young Bill; they walked and talked. Svermova's deceased husband was
the original editor of Rude Pravo, the Czech Communist Party paper before the
War.
After the Soviet-backed Communist coup of Czechoslovakia in February 1948 had
disposed of Democratic President Jan Masaryk by tossing him out a window of the
Foreign Ministry, Rudolf Saltzman, a.k.a. Slansky, became the new president.
Karel Svab, Maria's brother, was appointed Commissar of Secret Police and was
responsible for the subsequent murders, tortures, and deportations to Russian
gulags of several hundred thousand Christians, democracy advocates,
anti-Communists, and even religious Jews who had survived the Holocaust. Under
the Saltzman/Slansky regime (1949-1952), Maria Svermova was Secretary of the
Communist Party and the Central Committee, the supreme ruling body. While the
majority of Jews in pre-war Czechoslavakia were anti-Communist, the Party itself
was dominated by a clique of apostate Jews who had long since abandoned the
principles of their religion to embrace the False God of Marxism.
The entire Kopold clan was a significant part of the ruling Communist party
elite and was responsible for those murders and deportations either by the act
or as formulators of policy. In fact, 11 out of 12 Politburo leaders of the
Czech Communist Party were apostate Jews who had taken refuge in Moscow just
prior to the German occupation of the Czech rump state in 1939. It was easy for
the Communists to seize control in 1948 without popular resistance because the
Germans had confiscated all private weapons during the War.
In 1948, Saltzman/Slansky smuggled guns and explosives to Palestine to arm the
Zionist organizations, the Haganah, the Stern Gang, and the Irgun to enable them
to keep killing British officials until Britain became fed up and pulled out. In
1949 these gangs organized the ethnic cleansing of over one million Palestinian
Arabs from their lands which were then confiscated and made an integral part of
the nascent State of Israel. President Saltzman/Slansky in turn paid with his
life for assisting the Zionists. Accused of harboring Jewish nationalist
sentiments, which were in opposition to Marxist internationalism, Stalin sent
him to the gallows in 1952.
Years later, when Clinton was President, he again flew to Moscow, this time on
Air Force One, to meet Boris Yeltsin. Then, on his return flight he had the
plane stop in Prague, where, besides playing the saxophone -- important stuff --
he went to visit the parents of his Oxford friend Jan Kopold. By then, Maria
Svermova had died of old age. As for Jan Kopold, he had been killed earlier in
an "accidental fall" in Turkey in 1970, becoming perhaps the first of a long
string of former Clinton friends and associates to meet an untimely end.
Interestingly, Clinton told the news media people accompanying him on the Prague
pitstop that the Kopolds were "old friends he had long admired." Nothing
appeared in the press, however, about Clinton's admiration for and association
with this family once such an intimate part of the ruling echelon of the
murderous criminal Soviet puppet government that had enslaved Czechoslovakia.
After Clinton's short-lived tenure at Oxford -- he never finished his second
semester there -- he remained a member of The Mobilization Committee, a
Communist-front organization dedicated to undermining the strength of the United
States and opposing American initiatives against the communist world movement,
for another three years.
Clinton's youthful affiliations explain many of his recent actions. Why, for
example, the International Socialists were able to hold their annual conclave in
February 1995, as guests of Papa-Marx Aristide at Haiti's National Palace in
Port-au-Prince after Clinton restored the volatile voodoo priest to power. This
explains why I stood in dismay observing a huge banner in front of the Palace
proclaiming that event, while non-comprehending U.S. soldiers stood guard
outside protecting it and the delegates inside, those very persons sworn to
destroy everything most Americans revere.
This explains why Communist Chinese agents could obtain sensitive positions
within the Federal Goverment without having to obtain requisite security
background checks. This explains how they could steal all our nuclear secrets --
and God knows what else -- and walk away with impunity, without a peep or
protestation from the White House.
This explains why we are backing the Kosovo Liberation Army -- a terrorist gang
of drug-financed Marxist thugs -- and why we are attempting to bomb into
submission the socialistic but nationalistic nation which opposes them.
Yes, this explains a lot of things about Bill Clinton. Clinton has been a
left-wing sympathizer all his life and has appointed openly pro-Communists to
his administration, has promoted one Socialist measure after another in the U.S.
Congress, has implemented policies calculated to subvert and weaken both the
moral and physical defenses of the United States while doing everything possible
to wreck the predominant cultural heritage of this nation.
More recently, Clinton is attempting to exploit the shooting tragedy in Colorado
to further his party's goal and insidious agenda of incrementally disarming all
Americans and so potentially leaving them vulnerable to a maximalist New World
Order government of a more insidious type than that which terrorized, murdered,
and enslaved Czechoslovakia.
Rather than be cowed into submission with guilt by Clinton's recent anti-gun
initiative -- cynical and insincere as it is -- playing upon the raw emotions of
the events out West, I suggest Americans react en masse by doing the contrary!
Buy weapons, stockpile ammunition -- secure them against small children of
course -- enroll in a gun safety course, practice at the range, and learn how to
handle weapons responsibly. Above all, be prepared!
When the U.S. Congress can no longer protect us from the likes of Bill Clinton,
his cohorts, and the type of people he so much admired in Prague. When the U.S.
military is finally dissolved or becomes a tool of domestic oppression -- there
will only remain WE THE PEOPLE to fall back upon ourselves to preserve the
rights and freedoms won through blood and sacrifice by the Founding Fathers.
Will we have the courage to do so when the time comes? That's the question which
remains. Enough is enough! In a free society, free citizens have always owned
arms, while a disarmed citizenry consists of subjects and slaves! Perhaps, in a
pre-emptive move, it's time for millions and millions of angry Americans to
converge upon Washington and raise our voices in unison to Bill Clinton and
shout: "NO, NO, NO, NOT HO, HO, HO."

Bill Clinton's college days at Oxford University in England are quite an
eye-opener. His activities there help to explain his appalling decisions as
President of the United States. But the exact nature of his trip to Moscow and
Iron Curtain countries while at Oxford is still a mystery. It was at the height
of the Cold War, yet he traveled alone (according to Dee Dee Myers) and stayed
40 days. The trip would have cost as much as $5,000 and he attended meetings of
Group 68, an organization of American peace activists. Furthermore, his wife
Hillary has communist connections as well, doing her post Yale Law school
internship with Robert Treuhalft in Berkeley, California. He was the lawyer for
the Communist Party of the United States.

Allegations of Clinton's communist ties have been reported from other sources as
well:
Back in 1993, I received a 49-page report entitled "Secret: FBI Documents Link
Bill & Hillary Clinton to Marxist-Terrorist Network," published by the Sunset
Research Group of Wichita, Kansas. It was a meticulously documented report
showing the connections of the Clintons to the Institute for Policy Studies, a
Marxist think tank in Washington. Clinton's top economic advisor was Derek
Shearer, an IPS operative and advocate of Marxist socialism. Shearer's sister
Brooke was also Hillary's traveling companion. The report states: "In a 1980
book he authored, Shearer confided that he and others were planning to so
influence the Democratic Party that a President sharing their Marxist-socialist
views could soon be elected."

Obviously, their aspirations materialized in the person of Bill Clinton. Concern
for such a national disaster as a communist-sympathizing President was the
project of retired U.S. Army Brigadier General Albion Knight, Jr.
During the early years of the Clinton administration, Knight was involved in a
unique project. With the help of some colleagues, he drafted a list of goals
that would be the framework of a Marxist president if one were to be elected to
lead the United States.
"We concluded that a Marxist and / or communist president, if he ever came
to power, would focus on the transfer of national sovereignty at every
opportunity to international organizations. He or she would also weaken the
armed forces physically, mentally and spiritually. The 'dumbing down' of our
public school educational system would also accelerate."
"Furthermore, we decided that a Marxist president would assist all or most
of America's enemies—Russia, China, Cuba, radical Islam, North Korea and others.
He would disregard the Constitution at every opportunity and rule by decree,
meaning executive orders, would earmark such an administration. Bogus arms
control agreements, buying-off or intimidating Congress by stealing the FBI
files of its members, controlling the media and trying to stop all alternative
media would also be major goals."
In addressing the two terms in office of President Bill Clinton, Gen.
Knight is resolute.
"What has Clinton done in this regard? He has hit every one of the above
actions and more. I have a file over six inches thick with articles describing
these actions. The salami slices add-up to a message of treason. Sex and perjury
were the wrong impeachment offenses. It should have been on his treachery and
failure to live up to his oath-of-office.
"Clinton has helped Marxists and terrorists and their 'world revolution' at
every opportunity. Cultural Marxism is also a key Clinton goal. He has been
giving us a bad example that it is all right to lie, cheat, steal, threaten and
even rape women if it is done in high office. There is a steady movement toward
a Gestapo-like control over the people. There is today in the U.S. a total lack
of any sense of nation and its protection as required by his oath-of-office.
Furthermore, Clinton has been selling and giving our nuclear and other high
technology secrets to communist China and giving Russia the money to re-arm at
U.S. taxpayers' expense."
Speaking on U.S. relations in the 1990s and at the turn of the millennium,
Knight says, "China and Russia have threatened to nuke us. Why are Americans
unconcerned? I believe it is because so many of our people don't know and many
don't want to know. The government does not want them to know because, by and
large, the present government fears and distrusts the people. The
government-controlled media and the transnational banks don't want Americans to
know. But, our people must know if we are to survive as a free nation."

COMMUNIST PENETRATION OF OUR GOVERNMENT
It is now known that there have been active attempts by communist China to
influence American elections. A 1998 Senate Governmental Affairs Committee
report concluded:
"It is clear that illegal foreign contributions were made to the DNC [Democratic
National Committee] and that these contributions were facilitated by individuals
with extensive ties to the PRC [People's Republic of China].... It is also clear
that well before the 1996 elections, officials at the highest levels of the
Chinese government approved of efforts to increase the PRC's involvement in the
U.S. political process."
According to Investor's Business Daily, "Congressional investigators believe
Chinese operatives funneled as much as $5.6 million to the Democratic National
Committee, which the DNC used to support Clinton's campaigns. The DNC has
already returned $3.8 million in illegal contributions…. Congressional
investigators say that, between 1993 and 1996, Chinese contributors and their
go-betweens visited the White House some 200 times, often meeting with the

Also, House Government Reform and Oversight Committee investigators report
that the FBI intercepted telephone calls from the Chinese consulate in Los
Angeles, mentioning plans to influence American elections.
SELLOUT TO COMMUNIST CHINA
It is also known that Bill Clinton and his administration have facilitated
sensitive technology transfers to the Communist Chinese in exchange for campaign
donations and other favors. Not only were there technology transfers that
amounted to treason, but multiple counts of espionage were covered up as
apparent "payback" for donations received. Thanks to Bill Clinton and other
accomplices, the U.S. government's response to the nuclear theft at Los Alamos
was marked by delays, inaction and skepticism—even though some senior
intelligence officials believed the theft was among the most damaging cases of
espionage in recent history.
"…Until recently, China's nuclear weapons designs were a generation behind those
of the United States, largely because Beijing was unable to produce small
warheads that could be launched from a single missile at multiple targets and
form the backbone of a modern nuclear force. But by the mid-1990s, China had
built and tested such small bombs, a breakthrough that officials say was
accelerated by the theft of U.S. nuclear secrets from Los Alamos National
Laboratory in New Mexico…." (New York Times, Jeff Gerth, March 6, 1999)
As a direct result of this technology acquisition, China now has the capacity to
target American cities for annihilation: "Thirteen of China's 18 long-range
intercontinental ballistic missiles are targeted on the United States." (CIA's
National Intelligence Daily, 1998)
CLINTON DISARMS AMERICA, ARMS OUR ENEMIES
According to a March 10, 1999 column by Christopher Ruddy, Clinton has
compromised American security on multiple counts: he released classified missile
technology to China after receiving political contributions from the communist
Chinese, he has allowed China to take control of port cities on both ends of the
strategically-vital Panama Canal, and has allowed the Russians and Chinese
access to sensitive missile bases, command centers, and shipyards:
"…Here are the shocking facts: CLINTON URGED TURNOVER OF LONG BEACH PORT TO THE
RED ARMY: … COSCO—the Chinese Overseas Shipping Company, a subsidiary of China's
People's Liberation Army—would be allowed to lease the navy shipyards in Long
Beach, California for 16 annual payments of $14.5 million a year (total: $232
million). The deal would also have required the Port of Long Beach to spend $235
million to modernize the facilities….
AUTHORIZED IMPORTATION OF 100,000 CHINESE COMBAT RIFLES: In 1996, soon
after Clinton had signed a law outlawing importing foreign semi-automatic
weapons into the U.S., he signed a waiver allowing the Chinese Overseas Shipping
Co.—COSCO (a subsidiary of the Red Army)—to allow them to import 100,000
semi-automatic military rifles into the U.S., as well as millions of rounds of
ammunition. Not content to just bring in semi-automatic weapons, COSCO also
tried to smuggle in 2,000 illegal, fully automatic Chinese AK-47s. According to
press reports, these weapons were destined to be sold to street gangs in
Oakland. That seems like a phony cover story. We still need to know why China
tried to smuggle into California enough weapons to equip an army.
CLINTON OPENS U.S. TO RUSSIA AND CHINA: On May 13, 1997, Defense Secretary
Cohen signed a military cooperation agreement with Russia. Under the agreement,
U.S. and Russian forces would work together on over 100 exercises in 1997
alone…..
ALLOWING RUSSIANS TO PHOTOGRAPH U.S. MILITARY BASES: Under the Open Skies
Treaty, Russian military planes began flying over and photographing U.S.
military bases last year. Chinese military aircraft will be allowed to fly over
U.S. military bases beginning in 1999. Information Russia and China obtain from
these flyovers would be invaluable if they ever attack the US.
GIVES CONTROL OF THE PANAMA CANAL TO CHINA: … President Clinton has allowed
a company controlled by Chinese communists—Hutchinson-Whampoa Ltd.—to take
control of the Canal cities at both ends of the Canal. Further, under Panamanian
Law #5, Hutchinson-Whampoa will determine which ships are allowed to enter the
Canal and many of the Canal's operations. This is utterly absurd and
frightening….
U.S. SELLS STRATEGIC WEAPONS TECHNOLOGY TO CHINA: On March 23, 1998, The
Washington Times revealed a secret Clinton Administration proposal to sell
advanced missile technology to China. Under Clinton, 47 supercomputers have been
sold to China, most for use by the Red Army—the butchers of Tibet and Tiananmen
Square. These U.S. computers can be used to target nuclear missiles at America
and to build design new and more powerful nuclear weapons…." ("China and Russia

NATIONAL SECURITY AT GREAT RISK
Not content with collaborating with the enemies of the United States, Clinton
(once quoted as saying, "I loathe the military and all it stands for") has
scraped his very own military to such a degree that it will take years to
recover:
"…At the same time that Russia has been building an enormous war machine and
making war preparations, the US has been slashing its strategic nuclear arsenal,
mothballing ships, and eliminating entire military battle groups. Equally
suicidal, Clinton has cut troop levels in the US Army by 40% and the Air Force,
Navy and Marines by over 30%. Clinton has also tied up many of America’s best
troops in endless and futile foreign quagmires, including "peace-keeping" in
Bosnia and the Middle East, humanitarian projects in Africa, and drug
interdiction in Latin America. Few troops are left to defend the United States.
Clinton also been throwing away America’s limited arsenal of cruise missiles.
These missiles were primarily built to deliver strategic nuclear warheads deep
into Russia. Russia is believed to be vulnerable to such weapons because they
evade radar and fly low to the ground....
US defense spending has been dramatically reduced, from about 28 percent of
the federal budget in 1988 by almost half, to 17 percent today. Former Secretary
of Defense, Casper Weinberger, states in his book The Next War:
"...the United States has embarked on a massive disarmament. Since 1985,
military budgets have declined 35%. Spending on research and development has
been slashed by 57%, and procurement of newly produced weapons by a whopping
71%.” (Christopher Ruddy, March 17, 1999)
While it has gone largely unreported, President Clinton has overseen the
destruction of nearly two-thirds of America’s nuclear weapons stockpile. He has
ordered that America no longer have a "launch on warning” policy and has
replaced it with one that says America will retaliate only after it has been
attacked. This non-sensical Clinton policy means that American cities and
American military targets must first be destroyed before America retaliates.

If that were not enough, the navy has decommissioned almost half of its
ships, down from 600 in 1991 to 336 today, the lowest level since 1938.
In the words of Christopher Ruddy, "Never before has America been so
vulnerable to devastating attack by the worst mass murderers in human history,
and never before has an American leader so jeopardized America’s ability to
defend itself." ....

AL GORE AND THE HAMMER OF COMMUNISM

Vice President Al Gore Jr. has been many things: reporter, Senator, Vietnamese
doper, tobacco farmer, imaginary inventor, environmentalist, tree imitator,
alpha male, and protégé of communist financier and Soviet intelligence asset
Armand Hammer.
Armand's father, Russian-born Julius Hammer, was one of the founders of the
American Communist Party. He developed a prosperous drug store chain, Allied
Drug and Chemical, and devoted his fortune to the Party. A decade before Lenin
took power, Dr. Julius became his friend. Julius further increased his fortune
by illegally shipping war supplies to the infant Soviet Union near the end of
World War I.
The Hammers didn't just flirt with Communism; they were hard-core. Armand met
Lenin in 1921, negotiating an asbestos concession. Hammer would repeatedly brag
about his friendship with Lenin. Within a few years, Armand's Allied American
Corporation would become the export agent for dozens of firms sending badly
needed machine tools, tractors, typewriters, rubber, etc. to the Soviets. Hammer
continued to take orders from Stalin. For over six decades, Armand helped build
the Soviet military-industrial complex.
As early as 1921, J. Edgar Hoover's FBI was aware of Armand's pro-Soviet
activities. In 1961, memos between Hoover and William Sullivan, head of domestic
counter-intelligence at the FBI, said that Hammer could not be pursued because
he was "protected" by Senator Albert Gore Sr., the future Vice President's
father.
Armand Hammer was Gore's guest at Kennedy's Presidential inauguration. Gore
arranged with JFK for Hammer to become an unofficial economic emissary to the
Soviets. Hammer negotiated a billion dollar fertilizer deal, with Senator Gore
as a minor partner. This has obvious military implications, as the
Hammer-Gore-Soviet fertilizer plants could be used to manufacture chemically
similar explosives.
In their first business deal, Hammer sent Congressman Albert Gore Sr. bull semen
for his Aberdeen Angus cattle. Gore would use sales of his cattle at above
market prices as a notorious conduit for bribes from other interests.
The protection given by Albert Gore (and others, including Congressman James
Roosevelt, FDR's son) allowed Hammer to act as a courier for the Soviets, to
recruit spies, to place spies in US government positions, to fund Soviet
intelligence networks, to launder Soviet money, to develop export businesses for
them as a source of hard currency, and to continue to supply the Soviets with
American equipment.
Hammer financed Gore's Senate campaigns from 1952 to 1970. Gore lost the last
one because of his opposition to the Vietnam War. It's one thing to oppose war
because it leads to monstrous death, destruction, and the growth of big
government at home; but it's another to do so because you may be a paid asset of
Soviet intelligence serving their geopolitical goals.
After the electoral defeat, Hammer paid Gore Sr. a half-million dollars a year
to head the coal mining operations of his Occidental Petroleum company, (ironic,
considering Gore Jr.'s stated opposition to burning fossil fuel).
Al Gore Jr. was even more politically ambitious than his father. Hammer saw him
as potentially very useful, and groomed Al, with money and influence, for
positions of great power. Young Al also opposed warring against Soviet
client-states. He became highly indebted to his benefactor when Hammer paid for
the future Vice President's college education. The pinko-nitwit positions Al
took during college debates would have made Hammer proud.
Al Gore said that opposition to communism was a "psychological ailment," a kind
of "paranoia." The good Dr. Hammer's son would concur with Gore's diagnosis of
"a national madness."
Of course, Hammer financed Al Gore Jr.'s election campaigns, lending special
support during Gore's premature 1988 Presidential bid. Gore used Hammer's
private 727 jet for personal and campaign purposes. Al's celebrated Tennessee
farm had been purchased through Hammer. Armand Hammer became Senator Al Gore
Jr.'s guest at Reagan's first inauguration.....
