An interesting article on state of Canadian Forces
in my current issue of Legion Magazine, for anyone who cares,
even Sheppard. Proposes merging with US military.

What's the best way for me to deliver it if you want to read
it?

I'm not too hot with OCR, I could scan each page in colour [well
there's just a drawing not much to see.] save it in .tif format
so it can be faxed.

Any suggestions from you young wippersnappers? :)

See! They can't even maintain their own military. This idiotic notion of
Canada being a truely seperate country from the USA is smashed.

Well I expected Tranny to get his digs in, considering what I
once said over in the Stargate group.

However, I am so used to my home delivery version I forgot there
in an online version too.

The cover story "Chickens come home to Roost" is right on the
first page as you get there, follow the link for full story.

Dude, all these little "patriots" in here don't have the first fucking
clue what this country is about. They want to outlaw burning the flag
but don't have the guts to go out and defend it, and by gum people
should be able to burn their own flags as long as they don't steal them
off a flag pole and commit arson. But they should realize that in
addition to burning things in public, being a disturbance, etc, burning
the flag is fightin words as well, and not be surprised when someone
socks em in the mouth for burning a flag. But rant rant rant

By the way (now that I've hijacked the thread) why do people insist on
making statements by destroying their own property? I mean, I didn't throw
away the books I had bought after I finished the course I needed them for.
When I stopped playing Magic: TG, I didn't burn all my cards, I sold them on
eBay. What's the sense of burning things like that?

To take your tangent and run away with it, I keep all of my coursebooks except
the ones I truly hate. Those I sell. But I keep all of my CS, math, econ, history,
etc texts. I like to have them around in case I want to look something up one
day, probably to win an argument here.

How many cards did you have, and how much did you get for them? I'm
thinking of doing the same. Unless you want to buy them for your on-line

I'd like you to know that I find nothing wrong with burning the flag in
protest. Nor do I have any problems with anyone else doing anything that
doesn't violate anyone else's rights.

About 15,000, and I got around $960 for 'em. Of course, that was over a

Fallen Empires to Mercadian Masques, although I had sets of most of the duel
lands and some early odds and ends and lots of the valuable later rares like
Necropolis, Vampiric Tutor, and Cursed Scroll.
I also had lots of cards that were valuable until they were errataed, like
Time Spiral and Fluxuator. That was part of what made me quit.

I didn't really figure it out. I think it worked out to $.50 a rare, but
it's a balancing act (for every Cursed Scroll there is a Kudzu).
You might fetch quite a bit though. BB Arabian Nights stuff is always in

I wasn't commenting on the article, but on the insulting assumption that I
am an extreme right-winger. I am not an extremist nor am I of the
right-wing. I am a libertarian as I have constantly pointed out. I believe
in maximum possible liberty. That's it. Hence when it was suggested that I
would cheer such a horrible act as banning flag burning I responded. I did
not need to read the article to respond to a personal insult. I made a
minor joke about Canada being part of the US, and got called a right-wing
extremist who believes in political censorship (which is what being against
the burning of the flag in political protest is). People assume I am
right-wing because I am for gun ownership without massive government
restrictions on that freedom and am pro-capitalism. This needed to be
corrected.

Errata is changing the text of a printed card, either because it's a
mis-print or because it's too powerful the way it is currently written. For
example, the card "A Tremor In The Force" was recently given an errata to
say "Once per game..." yada yada yada, because A Tremor In The Force was
giving people grief.
The term came from the old latin word used to describe corrections to errors
in printed books.

bug eyed unshaven social misfit with a log cabin and a strange prediliction
towards donkeys or close relatives has the right to bear arms without anyone else
having a say in the matter does not necessarily make one a middle of the road
libertarian.

In another shock revelation, I suddenly discover the run on sentence, and the
freedom to discard commas and other punctuation whenever I feel like it.

Wheee... pedant mode on. Errata is the *plural* of erratum, which is as you say an
error or mis-print, especially the noting and correction thereof. I've never heard
of errataed, though. (note to self - find better dictionary)

So, "A Tremor In The Force" has an erratum, which would be in the list of errata
for the game.

Pedant mode *off*. No egos were intentionally harmed in the making of this post.
Excluding collateral damage.

Retaliatory pedant mode on.
The useage in the traditional sense that you referred to does not apply in
this case, as the term is used in a modified form within the context of the
trading card community. To be precise:
Errata: (v)the changing of the printed text on a card
Errataed: (v)the past act of issue an errata
Errata: (n)the replacement text for a previously printed card (fits singular
and plural)
Therefore, I'm afraid that *you're* assertion that "erratum" is the correct
term is mistaken in the context of the trading card community being
described. :-)
Mode disengaged.

Nor does it automatically make me a right-wing nutjob either. I just
believe people have a right to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't
directly harm anyone else. That includes the ownership of firearms.

Excuse me from being controversial here, but how do you reconcile the right to own
firearms with the assertion that most people there are so dumb they need written

When they harm themself or anyone else due to their stupidity then they
deserve to be punished. And to be fair, it is not the stupidity of people
that creates the idiotic warning labels seen today (although they did start
the trend long ago), it is caused by over cautious companies on the advice
of their lawyers. This is done just in case somewhere, somehow some idiot
manages to do stupid things with their product, survives, and sues (or
doesn't survive and their family sees a jackpot on the horizon) because of
a lack of a warning label. Yes alot of people are outright idiots, but
until they harm themselves or others they have the same rights and
responsabilities as every other person (which includes ownership of
property including firearms). The problem is not really stupid people, it's
that people expect the government and corporations (but mostly the
government) to do everything for them and that they are entitled to
everything they want and not wanting to take responsability for their own
actions. Whenever some idiot has an accident they blame the company that
might be remotely involved, rather then taking responsability for their own
actions. The issue you bring up is not one of gun ownership, for you could
say that these same people could not own cars (which are quite dangerous in
the hands of an idiot) or power tools, but it is an issue of
responsability. I believe each person is responsable for their own actions
and must pay for those actions should they harm another, whether they are
intelligent or not.

Case in point. I was out to eat at a fast food place the other day and had
an accident where two of my fingers were badly mashed due to my own
carelessness. Alot of people would have probably sued the company, I
instead saw it as a result of my own actions and therefore my own
responsability. Oh my fingers are ok now, it was nothing worse then a very
bad bruising (which heal fast on me anyway), but still, many would have
sued.

It could have been argued that the door on the trash receptacle (which is
what mashed my fingers) was defective, and quite convincingly as well. The
claim could just as easily be made as that idiot who sued because the

What the fuck were you doing putting your hand *in* the Trash receptacle?
You put the trash in, not your hand, it should never get close to being in

No, because you are a (presumably) strapping young man, and the woman
who spilled coffee on her lap was a very old woman who suffered blisters
on her bits and pieces. I'll tell you, I'd sue too. Actually I wouldn't:
I suffered a burn here on campus like that (not in my privates though)
when I was reaching for a granola bar and spilled the coffee on my
wrist. That experience changed my whole outloook and made me think that
maybe the woman in the McD's suit had a case: I had a red blister for a
week, that even covered up a 30-year-old burn that covers my wrist. But
I didn't sue the school, because I'm not a 90-year-old woman. It sounds
lame, but the fact is, McD's coffe IS too hot, and they have even
acknowledged that they brew >160 F to cut down on the amount of grounds
they have to brew. That is a phony fucking reason, and no-one else
(besides the school) brews that hot. Hint, Transcend, your hot water
heater isn't set anywhere NEAR 160, because that can kill people. That
shit is hot, I have sat through an entire breakfast and left with my
coffee without having drunk it because I know all this, and 10 minutes
after that it STILL burned. the fact that I knew it was hot and
anticipated it and still got burned after taking reasonable precautions
(waiting--since when did you wait til AFTER breakfast to have your joe?,
sipping) tells me that McD's coffee IS too hot, and if there were Coffee
Justice, they'd get sued every fucking DAY. By EVERYBODY. It's just
plain coffee abuse! Tell me, when you go to Starbucks, is the coffee too
hot to sip? Oh, no, it isn't. Nevermind.

I know, but just seeing a number like that... I can picture you being bored

Insert "gun" here rather than "garbage can", and you've just summed up why gun
control is a good thing...

One of my Magic boredom outlets was a great card that nobody used, Volrath's
Laboratory, which let you make ANY creature you wanted (although it had to
be 2/2 no matter what). I would take cards I didn't need (oh look, another
circle of protection: blue to throw on the hill) and put pictures of
different things that I would make with the lab (so I could use them for the
required tokens; I wasn't that bored). I had Speak from the Tick,
Stormtroopers, samuraii, xenomorphs, all kinds. The best though was the
deck I brought to one tournament with them... You cannot describe the look
of a man being charged by a stampeding army of Jack Perkins.

Sometimes you have to really shove that garbage in to get it to go in, and
if your hand gets too close....

Erm. It's called "classification of dangers"

EXAMPLE:

We're unloading a ship full of military supplies :P
We throw everything labelled "fragile" onto
a truck and hear it breaking. :D

And then we get some crates labelled "EXPLOSIVES: DANGEROUS".

Do we handle them like shit? No. We gingerly load them
onto the truck slowly and painstakingly to avoid killing
ourselves in a fiery explosion.

On the list of dangers, "Accidentially mashing your fingers in
the swinging door to the garbage can" doesn't rate highly.

It's just what we all do everyday, albeit unconsciously. Can we cross
that road before those speeding cars hit us? Is it safe to drive the
rest of the trip with that small spare tire on? Etc.

I bet you think that all Americans think a little Drano makes a
bottle of booze go down GREAT! :P

The second amendment is not for killing little ducks
and leaving Huey and Dewey and Louie without an aunt

As Sheppard pointed out, you are more likely to be careful around things
that are *clearly* dangerous then you are around, oh say, a garbage can.

WTF, I could play on and around a BK garbage can all day and dare people
to slam my fingers in the door and it wouldn't hurt. Did someone grab

finding a webpage that says "Last Updated: 06/01/2001" Is that June 1st or
