According to this week's issue of Sports Illustrated, grand jury testimony
obtained by the magazine shows that Broncos linebacker Bill Romanowski, who
has been charged with fraudulently obtaining the diet drug Phentermine,
gave prescription drugs to one teammate and used a racial slur to another.
Denver center David Diaz-Infante told authorities that he had been given
Phentermine on one occasion by Romanowski. The most damning revelation by
the magazine, however, may be the testimony of a white player to the grand
jury that Romo dropped the N-bomb on him while trying to get the player to
take the drug. According to SI, the player said he was approached by
Romanowski, who said the drug was 'the only way we can compete with
n*ggers.' The linebacker's lawyer denied all of the allegations and a
message left for his agent Tom Condon has not been returned....

I recall Tom Jackson saying on ESPN that had he been a temmate of Romo's
at the time, there would have been a fight.

This article has already been disputed not only by Romo's lawyer, but even
by the prosecuting attorney, I believe. By bringing in the "n-word"
accusation, it smells like a smear campaign from an old enemy.
