Check it out! http://www.devolution.com/~slouken/projects/SDL/

Simple DirectMedia Layer

Version: 0.3

Status: Currently ongoing development

Platforms: Linux, Win32, BeOS

Description:

This library is designed to make it easy to write games that run on Linux,
Win32 and BeOS using the various native high-performance media interfaces,
(for video, audio, etc) and presenting a single source-code level API to
your application. This is a fairly low level API, but using this, completely
portable applications can be written with a great deal of flexibility.

Showcase:

Port of the DOOM! source code to SDL: Available Now
Port of Maelstrom to SDL: In Progress
Win32 port of the Macintosh emulator "Executor"

This library is ready to use, including online documentation.
To give you an idea of how robust the library is, the port of DOOM! took
only a day, and now works on all supported platforms. This is a credit
to iD software, but it's a nice punch for the SDL library.

I would be glad to get feedback, as the next revision (supporting DirectX
and DGA) is already on the drawing board. :)

Enjoy!
