BIND 4.9.x/8.1.x listening behavior

One of our 4.9.x DNS primaries couldn't be sent a signal or
stopped and restarted. STDERR saw this message:

socket(SOCK_DGRAM): Too many open files

Both 4.9.6 and 8.1.1 produced this error on a Solaris 2.5 x86
server with IP sub-interfaces assigned. Rebooting allowed the daemon
to start, but it would fail when sent a HUP signal. Telling 8.1.1 to
listen only on the primary interface address (and not on the loopback
and sub-interface addresses too) made all well again.
