Kentucky Kingdom announced the name of their new stand-up coaster today.
It will be called "Chang". No further details yet. Stay tuned!

I have a difficult time believing that KK has the capital to build
such a coaster. A coaster fitting that description would cost at
least $12 million. If they manage to get the financing, please,
somebody tell me who the bank is. They must be practically giving
away money.

Let me guess Buck, yet another ride that you've been dying to tell us
about but weren't allowed to :)

Oh boy, I can hear the complaints now...if this many people think that
Mantis is painfull I'm scared to see what they say about 'CHANG'. At
least it sound like I'll have an excuse to visit KK next year. Hmmm..maby
I'll but my early Sept trip off untill next year and save the money. That
way I can be abused by T2 and 'CHANG' at once :)

Seriously though, I hate to make assumptions like this before the footing
are even layed for a new ride but....With KK's reputation and what some
people seem to think about Mantis (I personally thing Mantis is GREAT) I
wonder if a 'higher, faster, longer' standup is really a good idea?
Espically at a park known for rides that tend to abuse the rider.

I figured it would have to be B&M, unless vekoma had decided to surprise
us with a standup (Since KK is more or less the US Vekoma test ground). I
guess so long as our two Swiss friends are in charge the ride can't get
that out of hand. I like the sound of the location too. I wonder which
side of the "bridge from heck" the station will be on. Probably the far
side, which I think is a good idea - keep most of the coasters on one side.

BTW - I was under the impression that KK is a rather "thrifty" park, and
that B&M's are rather "expensive" (Speaking relativitly of course since no
coaster is very 'thrifty') I wonder if KK has been doing better, or if
they're going out on a limb with this one.

Also, Thanks for the solid info Buck, my initial comment wasn't trying to
be mean, just echo the fact that your position tends to get you
information that youc an't share sometimes.

5 inversions, the same as Mantis with the addtion of a corkscrew. 154 or 155
feet high(I forgot since it has been so long ago). A little over 4000 feet.

CHANG? Please tell me that's a clever acronym for something. Who came
up with that name? ..or what am I missing? I think that's the first
coaster name I've ever heard which simply made me scratch my head and
say, "...What the...?"

"Chang".

Just curious as to the significance, if any, of the name.

Whose the manufacturer? I sort of doubt B&M because of the $$$. Is
Vekoma introducing a stand-up model, or is this an updated Togo?
