Apologies for not having written this sooner, but I'm neck-deep in a big
design contract.

Okay, first of all, the date I've chosen is probably a bad date for many
of you. Please send me mail at blac...@io.org and let me know when would
be the best date for you.

I do have over 80 people on the mailing list so far, so I'll be sending
out a mailing soon. Thank you all for your replies.

Now, the location. There are various reasons for its selection. This
weekend is not meant to be another "let's go out to a club" type of
event. We net.goths have a distinct community that we've formed, and this
event is meant to be a reflection of that. We are capable of creating our
own events without having someone do it for us. What I'm trying to create
here is an event entirely created by and for US. Not for anyone else, but
US. It was located centrally to be as fair to as many people as
possible. Lawrence, Kansas is located more centrally geographically than
Chicago. For example, even though I have to drive about 20 hours (and NOT
in a rental car, either) instead of 9 to Chicago, a lot of people in the
west and south have a lot less distance to cover. Plus, any events will
end up being much cheaper in terms of renting space, etc.

I am currently in contact with the Chamber of Commerce in Lawrence and
they're sending me more information.
