The Glass Marble, mistaking the No. 37 Penpoint for the Four-Holed

I've had a couple. Kinda keeps you from checking and
rechecking the time. I should figure out where they
are and get a new battery.

And they put you on affectation watch for that? Seems overly cautious.
Are you wearing it on one end of a long gold chain that winds its way
through your waistcoat buttons from the gold nugget and/or gilded bullet
in the right pocket across the straining pin-striped cloth to the watch
in the left? Or on a nice Albert chain (the kind that goes in your
lapel, PREVINS!).
I trust that you are also tilting back the chair and putitng your feet
on the desk, without first removing the spurs from your boots.

It's a combination of that, ownership of a fountain pen and a dip pen,
a cane, and a fedora; plus, someone's tipped them off that I'm a fop
or a dandy.

Man, I WISH.

Actually I'm tilting back the chair and putting my feet on the desk
while pouring myself some whiskey. I start to drink it, when a dame
enters my office ... and my life.
Actually, buettner and I are pretty sure you're either a coxcomb or a
popinjay, but we're going to need a federally funded survey to be
certain which.

If you didn't keep checking and rechecking the time, you wouldn't need a
whole battery of watches. One would suffice.

They've ruled out strutting bantam, vain popinjay, and guffawing jacknape?

Ben's also wearing dove-gray spats now. Even when he wears his P. F.
Flyers. It's only a matter of days now before he buys that monocle in
the window of Council Opticians!
Who's waxing his moustache for him then?
