Hi All,

I can't seem to find any info on renaming a key in the registry.
Am I daft or is this not directly possible??

Please eMail.

Thanks in advance,

steeve

It is not directly possible. You have to copy the key to its new
name and then delete the original.

It's not directly possible. You need to create a new key, copy the old
key to the new one, then delete the old one. This is what happens when
you rename a key in RegEdit.

Does anyone know why this is? I mean, this precludes the use
of the registry for keeping a list of ordered keys.

Thanks to Chris and Raymond,

It just is.

Huh? The order in which keys are maintained has never been
guaranteed. Being able to rename a key has nothing to do with
it.
