We as blind people need to stop whining about the state of the world and act
proactively to make positive changes. Perhaps if ten of us wanted to
purchase books from this establishment, and asked for them in ASCII, it
would have an impact.
I submit that this organization chose PDF because they thought it would
most closely represent the look of the original print copy. Questions of
access to a screen reader never entered into the picture.
