MVP balloting

Speaking of the MVP horseraces, how many votes do the writers cast when
they fill out their ballots? Do they vote for the top three, the top five, the
top ten, or what? Anybody know?
Just post the answer; I don't need to have my mbox flooded over this.

The ROY and CYA votes are cast with only three places, five points for
a #1 vote, three points for #2, one point for #3.
The MVP vote is for TEN positions. #1 votes get 14 points, #2 votes get
9 points, and #3-10 get 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 points each.
The awards are voted upon by two sportswriters from each league city.
The actual voters rotate among the BBWAA members of said cities.
Don't know if all three ballots go to only two writers or are spread out
over six writers though.

If the World Series goes to Game 7, it'll tie with 1985 and 1986 for
the second-latest finishing date in history, October 27. 1981 and 1989
both concluded on October 28.
There has yet to be a full 21-game postseason (it happened a few times
back when the LCS used the five-game format). The longest was 1986, when
20 games were played, and Game 6 of the NLCS was almost double-length.
Free agency filings begin the day after the Series ends. The ROY awards
are usually announced the next full week, CYAs the next week, and MVPs
the next week. Then it's Hot Stove time. :(
