Here's what I would like to do: Create a menu title on the Menu Bar so that
when the title is clicked it would show a drop down list with a set of
macros I've recorded, and if I click one of the macro names, that macro
starts running.

Here's what I've done:

1. R-click Menu Bar
2. Select Customize from drop-down list.
3. Under Categories, New Menu is selected and appears on the right .
4. I click and drag it to the Menu Bar to the right of the Help title.
5. Back in Customize Box (which is still open), I click Modify Selection and
rename New Menu to MyMacros
6. I click Assign Macros
7. The Assign Macro Box opens, I click, say Macro1, then click OK
8. If I now click MyMacros on the Menu Bar, I do not get a drop down list
and Macro1 runs.
9. I returned to Assign Macro Box and assigned Macro2. When I clicked
MyMacros on the Menu Bar, again no drop down list, and Macro2 runs.

Thus it seems "MyMacros" behaves as a button and not a title for a drop down
list. In my naiveté, I assumed placing it on the Menu Bar would do just
that.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to achieve my objective
Cheers,

Robert.
How about customizing your toolbar and dragging the "Run Macro" button onto
your standard toolbar? That will list all available macros, although they'll
be available for editing as well as executing.

Hello Gord and Geoff:

Thanks for your help which solved my problem, and I learnt something
worthwhile. Gord's suggestion produced exactly the result I was looking for.
Geoff's suggestion was useful as I'm adding more macros all the time and it'
s not so easy to keep track of them. I've placed the Macro Button from the
Tools Menu on the Menu Bar where I can now quickly see a listing of all the
macros.

Your quick and insightful solutions are much appreciated.

Cheers,

Follow what you've done down to and including your step 5: then in
Categories window select Macros. Move a "Custom menu item" or smiley
face up to the MyMacros button on Menubar. A gray square will appear
to the left and below. Drop the "custom etc" on this, then assign a
macro to that. Drag as many smiley faces as you want and then rename
and assign them same as in step 5.
