Jerry Estrada won the CMLL World's Light Heavyweight Championship from
Lizmark during the week.
El Vampiro Canadiense appears to be returning to his old heel role,
while Javier Cruz likewise seems to be moving toward become a face
again. Stay tuned for further developments.
First Appearances:
HIJO DEL SANTO is the "son" of El Santo (The Saint), perhaps the most
popular wrestler in the history of professional wrestling in Mexico.
Santo was the star of many grade B movies during the 60s and 70s, and
when he died in 1984, thousands of fans showed up for his funeral. Hijo
del Santo doesn't quite carry the same stature. He's a fairly
unremarkable, but reliable, masked face.
SULTAN GARGOLA is a big, masked heel who uses the standard dirty Arab
ploy to work the fans. His mask features a little white veil over the
nose and mouth and a turban-like top. Normally not a great worker, but
he occasionally surprises you with his acrobatic skill.
HIJO DEL GLADIADOR is the "son" of El Gladiador (The Gladiator) about
whom I know nothing. Hijo del Gladiador is an unremarkable masked
heel.
LA FIERA (The Fierce One) isn't especially remarkable, either, except
for his rare characteristic of NOT wearing a mask.
