Final Match: Nitron (heel) vs. Conan (face); El Gran Davis (referee).
Conan wins.
Both of these guys have impressed me of late. Nitron will never make
anybody forget Don Leo Jonathan, but he's really trying hard. His work
rate already tops that of anybody of comparable size wrestling north of
the border, and I'm really taken with his dedication to learning how to
work. Unfortunately, he's painfully slow - a condition he really can't
do much to change. Conan, for his part, is probably the most agile and
acrobatic big man working in wrestling today. This is a fairly recent
turn - he's always be a good worker, but the acrobatics are new and
they add quite a bit to his charisma.
Conan opens the match by demanding a different referee (recall that
Davis cost Conan his CMLL World Heavyweight Championship several weeks
ago by awarding a match to Cien Caras under questionable conditions).
The commission debates briefly, then renders its decision: its Davis or
Conan forfeits the match.
Conan clotheslines Nitron twice, but can't bring him down. As Nitron
staggers in center ring, Conan climbs to the top turnbuckle and
clotheslines him again, felling the giant with this one. Nitron
immediately slides to the arena floor to regroup while the crowd changs
"Conan! Conan! Conan!" Nitron returns to the ring and sucker punches
Conan with the old handshake ploy. Nitron then ties Conan up in the
ropes Bossman style and twice delivers a Bossman style leg drop to the
back of Conan's neck after running across the ring to gain momentum.
Nitron frees Conan from the ropes, slugs him twice, and then suplexes
him. Nitron goes for the pin, but is unsuccessful. He then picks Conan
up and Irish whips him into first one corner, then another, following
up each move with an elbow smash capper. Nitron tries again, but misses
the elbow, freeing Conan to mount the top turnbuckle for a plancha
attempt. Nitron catches him on the top buckle and gives him a long,
hard body slam, then rolls him up in a pin attempt, but Co
