Archangel de la Muerte {Archangel of Death - masked}, Atila {masked},
and Huracan Negro {Black Hurricane - masked} (heels) vs. El Simbolo
{The Symbol}, El Antifaz {The Mask - masked}, and Talisman {masked}
(faces); Roberto Rangel and Pancho Ramirez (referees); faces win in
straight falls.
This was an impossible match to call because I'm not familiar with
*any* of these wrestlers. I had a hard enough time keeping the faces
and heels straight without trying to figure out who the individual
grapplers were. Strangely, the action seemed very much in a North
American style - lots of power moves.
First Fall: All three faces pin Huracan Negro.
Second Fall: Heels are disqualified for unmasking Talisman - AFTER
having already won the fall.
Second Match: From Arena Coliseo:
MS-1, El Gran Sheik, and El Satanico (heels) vs. Apolo Dantes,
Atlantis, and El Rayo de Jalisco, Jr. (faces); Roberto Rangel and
Pancho Ramirez (referees); faces win in straight falls.
First Fall: Gran Sheik attacks Atlantis outside of the ring while
Satanico mugs El Rayo in the ring; MS-1 is all over Apolo Dantes, then
tags Satanico. All three heels gang up on Atlantis and beat the crap
out of him. Dantes comes back in against the Sheik and takes a kick in
the gut for his reward. Apolo is double clotheslined by Satanico and
MS-1, but El Rayo comes in to save the pin. The Sheik grapples with
Atlantis, and Atlantis kicks him out of the ring. MS-1 comes in to face
Apolo Dantes, and the two trade throws and hip tosses. Finally, Dantes
executes a leaping head scissors that he converts into a crucifix and
pins MS-1 in the middle of the ring.
Second Fall: Satanico begins by thrashing El Rayo, but Atlantis comes
in to save him. For his efforts, Atlantis is put into a pretzel-like
submission hold by the Sheik and MS-1 while Satanico mauls El Rayo.
Atlantis escapes the submission hold and wails on all three rudos. MS-1
kicks Atlantis from behind, but El Rayo tags in and catapults MS-1
clear over the top rope. Satanico comes in to face Apolo Dantes, and
Apolo throws him out of the ring, then does a very impressive high
plancha over the top rope onto the prone Satanico. El Rayo throws MS-1
out of the ring, mounts the top turnbuckle, and does a WOWEE plancha
from about 10 feet up - just like he was jumping off the high board
down at the local 'Y' (remember, El Rayo is a big guy - ~240 lbs - but
he jumps around just like the little guys). Back in the ring, the Sheik
delivers a reverse atomic drop to Atlantis, but fouls him in the
process, and the heels are disqualified. From the slow motion replay,
it looked like Atlantis really was fouled - and the wa
