ORACLE RELEASES TWO TOOLS IN ITS APPLICATION DESKTOP INTEGRATOR SUITE
Oracle released Analysis Wizard, an online report analysis tool that
combines dynamic drill down with multidimensional capabilities. Oracle
also announced the availability of the reQuest Center, a centralized
report management tool for the desktop.
BOTH DATAQUEST AND IDC REPORT ORACLE NOW LEADING IN NT MARKET SHARE
Although their figures may indicate different percentages, both the
research firms of Dataquest and IDC show that Oracle Universal Data
Server is now leading in NT market share over Microsoft.
IBM GETS MASSIVE
In the first quarter of next year, IBM plans to release a massively
parallel processing (MPP) version of DB2, called DB2 Universal Database
Enterprise-Extended Edition. This is the first time that IBM will offer
MPP database capabilities on platforms other than its own.
ARBOR BUYS VERTICAL OLAP VENDOR
Arbor Software said yesterday it will acquire AppSource Corp., a
privately held company founded in 1995 that develops online analytical
processing (OLAP) software for sales and marketing applications.
SUN TO UNVEIL LOW-END UNIX WORKSTATIONS
On January 13, Sun Microsystems will unveil a line of low-priced Unix
workstations that it hopes will combat the migration of users to Windows
NT workstations.
SECURITIES CLASS ACTION SUIT FILED AGAINST ORACLE CORPORATION
On December 18, 1997, a securities class action was commenced on behalf
of purchasers of the publicly traded securities of Oracle Corp.
Plaintiffs charge Oracle and its Chief Financial Officer (Jeff Henley)
and Chief Operating Officer (Ray Lane) with violations of the securities
laws.
