First off, the report of yet another Okie Mom(tm) and her special
methods for raising children. Obviously she's 'experienced' what with
being pregnant with her *sixth* child.
http://www.ardmoreite.com/stories/091202/loc_neglect.shtml
Mean while up in Bartlesville, locked in a heated competition with
Delaware County to be recognized as the Child Rape Capitol of
Oklahoma, yet another child rape trial was nearing conclusion. This
time involving a case in which a 7 year old girl allegedly got tired
of being raped 'for years'.
http://www.examiner-enterprise.com/display/inn_news/news649.txt
Down in Henryetta, a fund has been established for the benefit of
Oklahoma's Youngest Rape Victim(tm), a baby that was eight months old
at the time she was brutally raped.

Then there's the matter of the Molesting Karate Instructor #2(tm).
Yep, for the second time this summer a karate instructor has been
arrested for instructing children in a lot more than self-defense and
this time at the YMCA, rather than a private karate school.
http://www.tulsaworld.com/wireless/WirelessDisplay.asp?ID=020913_Ne_A13Forme
And just to add some spice to Life in Delaware County, a guy wearing a
blouse and bra robbed a bank. No clue as to whether the 'In Drag Bank
Robber'(tm) was doing 'the Madonna Number' and wearing the bra on the
outside.
http://www.newsok.com/cgi-bin/show_article?ID=916592&pic=none&TP=getarticle
While over the Oklahoma City, the Okie Supremes(tm) told the Okie
Health Department "No Deal" on the department's bid to over-turn a
Creek County District Judge's injunction against the Okie Smoking
Ban(tm). Maybe the 'ghosts' over at the health department should grab
a glass of wine, a fine cigar and chill out for a while.

I covered that one a couple of days earlier in a post titled "News of
the Okies - 9/11/02".
Re-using needles, that does sound like an idea the Okie Thinkers(tm)
would endorse wholeheartedly as a money saving move. Maybe if Steve
Largent becomes governor he will suggest the idea to the 'Ghosts'
over at the Okie Health Department.
Oh by the way Teri, I think I received an e-mail from you a few, well
actually several days ago and haven't got around to replying yet as it
and many other e-mails are 'hanging fire', as I'm switching out
networks/servers. I should be able to catch up on my e-mail duties
over the weekend end. At least I hope so...

Is that your company? I somehow think that a person knowing enough
to maintain networks and servers doesn't need you help.
Which brings up a question I have been pondering for some time.
Just what is it about us that compels you to offer up non sequitur
insults whenever you can? I used to think it was one of two thigs -
jealousy or hate. Now, I think it's a combination of both. You hate
us, but yet you are also jealous of us. Anyone who tries to insult
people on a material level is often himself lacking in such matters.
And they have always achieved a medium level, and attempt to make
themselves think that they are better by running down others.
Take me, for instance. You put me down because I don't own a home.
Ever think that fact is not because I cannot afford to? I pay enough
in rent and extraneous bills to afford a home - I choose not to
because of two reasons. 1) I don't wish to deal with the upkeep and
2) I'm not sure that I want to stay where I am and do not wish to be
saddled with trying to sell a house in Oklahoma's depressed economy.
When I decide to settle down, I'll buy a home - but for now, being an
apartment dweller suits me just fine.
You put down the car I own, even though I have explained that I
bought it to restore because I love that particular model of car.
It's not that I cannot afford a new car - but why should I put myself
in debt to buy a 2002 car when what I really want is a vintage car
that I can restore to my tastes? In the end, I'll likely spend as
much restoring my Acura as I would buying a new car. I don't care
about that, it gives me satisfaction to work on the car, which doesn't
need all that much work, anyway - than be bored with a new car.
You seem to see such things as negatives. Has all your accumulated
wealth - of which I don't really think there is a whole lot, as those
who have it don't brag about it - brought you happiness? I would
guess a big, fat "NO" on that question, as you are obviously a very
unhappy and bitter person. I have my "down" days, but all in all, I'm
more than happ with my life. I have a nice place t live, a good job,
a car I love, and most important - a woman that I love intensely.
Honestly, everything but the last is superfluous.

while I should be pissed at your insults, I find them more laughable

Instructions for Understanding:
1) Have someone place hands firmy upon your shoulders.
2) Pull back on shoulders until head is removed from ass.
Not up on history, eh? Color me shocked. Oklahoma has long been a
"laughingstock" state - sometime rightly so, but mostly not. Travel
outside the state - I mean well outside the state - and see how we are
perceived as a state. It's not that kindly.
Sure, one canchalk it up to the ignoranceof those outside the state,
but somehow we managed to do something to gain such a reputation - and
Bubbaworld ain't it, pal. In 1986, I was in Philadelphia - people
there were literally shocked that we had cable TV and didn't live in
teepees or ride horses to work. I'm not kidding - that was literally
the perception of Oklahoma. We showed friends up there photographs of
the Oklahoma City and Tulsa skylines - you wouldn't believe the actual
shock on their faces that these were "real" cities.
And it persists to this day. When a state is known for football,
some erroneous idea of "Cwboys and indians" (perpetuated by the
Tourism Department, BTW), a bombing, tornadoes, and the Dust Bowl...I
think it's fair to say we have an image problem.
Much of this comes from the state government, which celebrates the
"history" and not the history. We are a state with a very unique
history. Oklahoma City is the only major American city that was
literally founded in a single day. Did you know that's not even
taught in most Oklahoma History courses? Did you know that the first
"sit-in" of the American Civil RIghts Movement occurred at Katz Drug
Store in Oklahoma City in 1958 - two full years before the
acknowledged "first" such protest in Greensboro, NC? How about the
story of Ada Lois Sipuel? Ever heard of Kate Barnard, and if so, what
was her role in the 1911 Oklahoma City Streetcar Strike? And speaking
of labor in Oklahoma, what of the IWW, the Knights of Liberty, and the
Mid-Continent Refinery Strike?
Hell, most Okies don't even know that the virtually-completed dome
on the State Capitol was always supposed to be there. The Capitol was
never intended to be without a dome, its construction was halted by
materials stortages brought on by World War I. And speaking of the
Capitol, what was the significance of the Lee-Huckins Hotel?
Come on, Ivan, you Oklahoma-lover, tell this "Okilahoma-hating thug"
the answers to these questions. I expect detailed replies...otherwise
we have our answer as to why Oklahoma is perceived badly - a bunch of
idiots who claim to love the state, yet know nothing about it beyond -
"Go Sooners!"
Can you tell me where the Glass Mountains are? How about Devil's
Canyon? What is the Bridgeport Crossing, and can you tell me how to
get to it? How about Jesse Chisholm and his grave? We can even have
fun - where's the "Spook Light"? Name the Oklahoma City barbeque
restaurant that was once a haunt of Pretty Boy Floyd in its original
Speakeasy days? Hell, name the Speakeasy, Mr. Okie! Give me Pretty
Boy Floyd's given name and the nickname locals called him while your
at it. What Oklahoma Governor has two counties named after him?
Come on, you should know these...
And when you're done Googling those, I have many, many
more...bwwwwahahaha!

Hey, Ivan, the word is "conjured", and you're still a goddamn idiot.
I don't like the image Oklahoma has outside of its borders, can't you
figure that out? No, of course not, I forget you are a one-track
mind, and that mind is set on "Insult KRC"... You pull this shit even
when I'm in agreement with you. No fucking wonder I don't like you
and never will - I disagree with a lot of people but don't genuinely
dislike them, except for one. And guess who that is? And guess why
that is? Not because you "defend" Oklahoma by being a blithering

that gives Oklahoma its bad name.

I do, because you claim to be a expert on Oklahoma, yet you don't
know a goddamn thing about it. I'm merely making you look like more

At least you have a sense of humor, but the thing is that I really
do think that's your car. Why else would anyone in their right mind
take a picture of any 1970's Chrysler product unless it was part of a
product liability suit?
I hate to pull a --->VENOM<--- and give out a link to a picture that
I did not take, but this is more or less my car:
http://www.dahliaflower.org/legend.jpg
Same color and interior, but that's a standard model, I have an "L"
model. I also have tinted windows, and the factory rear spoiler.
Other than that, that picture is exactly what the "Gray Ghost" looks
like. And, BTW, Ivan, that "Jap tin can" (thanks for the further
racism...) cost $32,000 when it was originally purchased - I have all
the paperwork. Not a cheap car, by any stretch of the imagination -
and hardly a mere Honda. Again, idiot, the Acura marque was created
by Honda to tap into the market of Yuppies that might otherwise buy
Beemers or Mercedes. I suggest you do some research on just why the
Acura Legend was created and the impact it had on the automotive
world. It virtually created the luxury sports coupe class, and one of
the reason I choose to own one - it was a milestone car. It's also
very powerful - trashed some punk on Memorial a few weeks back. Maybe
that was you, think it was just some "Jap tin can" and not a car
intentionally built to be a high performance car in luxury car
clothing.

Speaking of this, I was at home today watching a game show today where
the contestants guess what people will answer. When asked a question
about Hillbilly's the girl chose one of the men and said, "He looks
like he's an Okie he must know about Hillbilly's" That's most of the
worlds perception of this state, Ivan. Something you continue to

No, it's not a very good picture. It does look somewhat greenish,
now that you mention it, but it's charcoal gray. As far as I know,
green of any sort was not offered by Acura on the first-generation
Legend.
>Let me show U a real sweet and pretty auto. http://tinyurl.com/1ici hope U like it.
What is that, a Corolla? Not a bad car at all. My previous car was
close to that shade of purple, always liked the way the sun hits that
shade.
--cut--
>Guess again that Cordoba has a 400 CI mill hidden under the hood..That "acura" would
>have had no chance in hell of trashing it <grin>
Yeah, 400ci, but it's a lead sled. I could take that land yacht
without trying. Remember, the Legend Coupes were designed to compete
with BMW and Mercedes, not old men in old Cordobas sold to them by
Khan, touting their "rich, Corinthian leather"... Yeah, Chrysler had
to tout the leather seats because they knew the owners would be
sitting in them for a long time waiting for a tow truck because the
cars sucked. There's a reason Chrysler went bankrupt at the end of
the 1970's, and that hunk of steel you call a car is a clue as to why.
When you hire Khan to sell your cars, that's a big clue *not* to buy
them - do not hire actors known for playing evil villans if you want
to send the message that it's a good car to own. Yes, I know Ricardo
Montalban was also Mr. Roarke, which is clue #2 as to why you don't

Um, no. In 1986, the Maxima was not the performance car it is
today. The person who got me started on the Legend Coupes was a
lawyer here in OKC that had both a Legend and a Maxima - no
comparison. The Maxima is a nice car, but back then, it wasn't a
luxury performance car. Today, it's a different story - and modern
Acuras still out-perform the Maxima. (Checked the stats on the 260-hp
3.2 TL Type-S vs. the VQ-engined Maximas at 222-hp?) You're implying
that the Legend was a failure, if so - why is it still being made?
That's right, Mr. Car Boy, it's still made. I don't know why, but
some genius at Acura decided to market it in the U.S. as the "TL", in
Japan and elsewhere, it's still called the Legend. Rumor has is that
"TL" actually stand for "The Legend." Acura has never said one way or
another what "TL" means, which probably fuels the rumors. At any
rate, the TL is a Legend, so the car that "fell short" of the Maxima
is still being made - and marketed to people who wouldn't stoop down
to buying a Maxima. Completely different category of car - people who
buy Acura Legends are generally not those also considering a Maxima -
an Infiniti, yes, but not a pedestrian Maxima. Oh, and BTW, Mr. Car
Boy, the Honda engines that have always powered Acuras are
stepped-down derivatives of those used in racing - but I'm sure you
knew that, considering that you say that the Legend "fell short" of
the Maxima - bwahahahahaha! Thanks, I needed a good laugh on this
otherwise boring day.

So U think it's only the H.P. that gives a car the performance edge? Why is it the the VQ
has been in the years 10 best engines for the past 10 years? Where is the Honda V6 been
called a years best engine? Answer it has not happened <grin>

Oh, sorry I insulted your beautiful Maxipad...it's such a stellar

Not a worry, a Chrysler Cordoba is a punch line. It may have been
running since 1978, but I'll bet that you have spent as much as the
car cost new just keeping it from being yard art. Not impressing me
at all with your Cordoba - could you possibly have picked a car that

Funny, I don't recall saying the VQ was not a good engine. I was
talking sheer power-to-weight ratio. The Acura TL outperforms the
Maxima in all categories, sorry to inform you of this. Not saying the
Maxima is a bad car - quite the contrary, it's an excellent car.
However, you can cite all the "Top 10" lists you wish, still won't
change the fact a Legend (TL) outperforms a Maxima. The Maxima is not
even in the same category. Take a look at this:
http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/new/reviews/summ/index.cfm/id/20533.htm
Notice how the Nissan Maxima is not listed as a comparable car to
the TL, but Nissan's upscale Infiniti I35 is? That should give you a
hint as to where Honda markets the Acura marque, and it's obviously
not to potential Maxima buyers. Never has been Acura's target market
- the Maxima buyer is targeted by the Accord, not anything in Acura's
lineup. You're talking apples and oranges.

Naturally, not every Okie moron like you can afford an Acura on a
telemarketer's salary. First-generation Legend Coupes are
highly-prized cars, not a lot were built. A mint one can pull more
than a BMW (and certainly a Maxima) of equal vintage. Mine's not
perfect, but I didn't expect it to be when I bought it. I bought it
because the engine was sound and I wanted a car that I could restore
the body and interior to my tastes. I have work to do on it, but
don't mind - it's a labor of love. I own a car that I've wanted since
I could drive, and I'm happy. Sorry if my being happy makes you

Uh no, he's not. The price of a 1990 Legend L (you said first
generation Legend right KRC?) is the same as most BMW models of the
same year. The 3 series convertibles and high ends will post about
$1000 more. The 1990 Maxipad is lucky to top $3000 half of a Legend L

Since I was evening work for a client I got to enjoy the wonderful
daytime television. Gotta watch something while eating lunch. It's
either the daytime womanized version of TLC, talk shows, or game
shows. As for the Oklahoma stuff, I can just turn on Jerry Springer

We keep telling you but you don't listen. It's not that these things
don't happen elsewhere. It's the frequency that they happen here.
It's the fact that Oklahoma ranks in the top 5 in most of these
terrible things. Not just a few.

Meaning now that you've had your free public education and are old,
you don't see the need to pay for others. How often do you go down
south. They are not as bad as you might think in many areas. It's
taken many years, but the south has caught up and is passing us by.
If people will start paying attention and realize the importance of an
educated population then I'll put my drum down.

No, it is about the misuse of money. We give our kids via tax dollars about
$4,500/year per kid for school. I send my kid to a private school for less and
she gets a much better education. What is the difference?
Sports.
Eample:
While the budget was cut to the bone for public schools, we actually increased
sports dollars for Middle school so they can buy more football uniforms.

Yep, "first generation" are those built from 1986-90, "second
generation" is 1991-94, and "third generation" (the TL) is
1995-present. For Ivan's information, here's a Car & Driver
comparison between the 1991 Legend LS and what they considered to be
equivalent cars (these are just the 0-60 tests):
Legend LS - 7.8 seconds
Alfa Romeo 164L - 9.8 seconds
Audi 90 Quattro - 8.2 seconds
BMW 525i - 9.6 seconds
Mercedes 190E - 9.4 seconds
Saab 9000CD Turbo - 6.8 seconds
Volvo 840 Turbo - 8.4 seconds
Notice, Ivanfish(tm), how a respected car magazine like Car & Driver
did not put the Legend up against a Maxipad? Could that possibly be
because it's not considered an equivalent? Notice also that the only
compared car that beat the Legend was the Saab 9000CD Turbo - a
turbo-charged car was the only one tested that beat the
normally-aspirated Legend.
I love it when Ivan melts down and drops his dick in the dirt - all
this information is easily found. You have to be a complete idiot
like Ivan to keep posting this crap without doing any research. One
thing I will give him, though, is that Acuras are Hondas - the door
sills and valve cover on mine both say 'Honda Motor Co." quite clearly
- that was a little quirk on the first-generation Acuras. Only in
North America are the cars called Acuras - in Japan, they are Hondas.
Here's picture from a Japanses brocure of a 1990 Legend Coupe:
http://www.dahliaflower.org/90legcp.jpg
Acura is strictly a marketing scheme - always has been. I just
liked tweaking Ivan about it. In 1986, Honda found that the
perception of the name was that of a quality, but cheap, automaker.
The Legend was already ready to roll as a high-end competitor to BMW
and Mercedes - and in Japan and elsewhere, they were marketed as
Hondas to that level of buyer. But in North America, their studies
indicated that people did not consider Hondas in the same category as
BMW or Mercedes, so Acura was born. Toyota and Nissan ran into the
same thing - so, now we have Lexus and Infiniti as well. The humor is
that the Japanese really just pulled a fast one on North America -
marketing cars under a different name because of our perceptions of
Japanese cars being cheap. It worked, though - as teh resale value on
Acuras attest.

Thanks for the laugh. Comparing that hunk of junk Cordoba to one of
the original lead sleds.
As for my cars, I never owned a car younger than me until I got into
college. If you want to discuss some real cars then we can talk about
the ones I drove in high school. 49 Buick, 39 Plymouth, 64.5 Mustang,
50 Chevy 3 window truck. I still own the 49 Buick it's only got
60,000 original miles on it. And I guarantee the 34 Ford my dad still
has would destroy most of the rice boys cruising memorial. Of course
we had to rip out the Ford engine. Replaced it with a custom blown
350 Chevy.
As for my current car, a 2003 Lancer just to play around in. Since
I'll be lucky to put 6000k on it in a year I figured I wouldn't waste
a lot of money since I won't drive it a lot. Didn't feel like buying
a base Honda, Nissian, or Yota for the price I could get the Lancer
loaded. I spend 90% of my time in a company vehicle. Looked at a KIA
based on their warranty, but their mpg sucks big time.

It's due to the lithium shortage.
With zillions of batteries manufactured daily there simply isn't

Granted the 'standards' for Springer's show are low, damned low but

Um, Ivan, managers and promoters are the ones fighting to keep prices
low and get more money in the pocket of the artist. Record companies
are the ones jacking prices of CD's of which artists get pennies on
most of the time.

Or did you mean the car? You've never heard of it before? It was
introduced in 1973 by Mitsubishi as a rally car. The current
Evolution VI is one of the top rally racing vehicles. They canned the
Mirage last year and brought in a scaled down version of the Lancer in
the US last year. At 120HP it's not a racing vehicle. The US version
is fun to drive and had great crash test ratings. Overall I like it,
which is of course what matters. It's basically just an around town
car for me, with a few long trips from time to time.
They say they are going to bring an EVO racing version into the US
soon. But since you won't find me at the track I don't plan to
purchase one.
Maybe in a few years I'll sell it to some poor kid who can put
stickers all over it and call it a racing vehicle.

I acutally agree with you on this issue. I have always been in
favor of sharing music, as it does benefit the artists. In the liner
notes of ever recording I have produced for public sale, I have always
stated that copying the tape or CD for non-profit use is encouraged.
I was pretty pissed when Metallica came out against Napster,
considering that if any popular band benefitted from music trading, it
was Metallica. The were selling out arenas before having a
top-selling album and the reason why was fans sharing tapes with
others. The built their entire following prior to 1991 by word of
mouth. They were also setting aside parts of the concerts for those
who wanted to tape the shows.
Then they got a platnium album and became greedy jerks. As a
musician myself, I have no issues with someone wanting to rip a CD
from MP3's of my work. I say "more power to you" - as long as you
don't try to make money from it, burn all you want. I have some of
Dahlia's stuff online and available for download for that very reason.
And I will continue to do it the future.
And yes, Ivan, I am a professional musician, computers and such are

Not the point. I have never claimed to know anything about you that

things about you that are not public knowledge, but I won't reveal
them due to non-disclosure agreements that I have signed.

See this is why everyone agrees that you are an Okie asshole. You

That's correct. It was not, nor is it now sold as a luxury performance car. It was sold
as "the 4-door sports car." Now it's just marketed as a sporty sedan to 20 and 30
somethings.

The Maxima has 255 hp. I've never read any direct comparison between the two, but I'm
sure the Maxima will outperform the 3.2 TL......that's if "perform" is considered what's
fastest off the line (but who the hell wants to drag race Maximas and TLs?). The 3.2 TL
is a much more refined vehicle. Maximas have a lot of road noise and a fairly rough ride
(similar to a sports car) but the Acura offers similar power with an exremely quiet and
smooth ride. As you said, they aren't even in the same category.

Yep. And I'd take almost any Acura vehicle over any Infiniti vehicle in a heartbeat
(except for their SUV and the new G35 coupe.) Don't get me wrong. I've owned 4 Nissans
and they are fantastic vehicles, and the Infiniti line is excellent. But the Honda V-6 is
the best V-6 in the world. Nissan's V-6 is a close 2nd, but it's just not quite as smooth
running as the Honda. And did I mention I own a Nissan with a V-6?

a Legend looks like, because I just downshifted and left him in the
dust without really pouring it on.

Nope the Honda equivalent to the Maxima is the Accord - not anything
under the Acura marque.

Yes, but what does it do to Cordobas?
Can you friggin' believe Ivan actually admitted to owning such a
worthless hunk of steel, and is proud of it?

Well, yeah.
After all ya' gotta' remember that he considers Oklahoma the "Promised
Land" as foretold in Goat Blower Mythology"(tm).
Yeah, but he had 2 extra doors. ;)

I'd consider the Maxima somwhere in between. The Accord is generally regarded as an
efficient family sedan. The Acura 3.2 TL is a luxury performance sedan. The Maxima is
sortof a family sport sedan. Comparing the Accord to the Maxima is sortof like comparing
the Maxima to the Acura. I'd compare the Accord to the Altima more than the Maxima. I
think the Maxima is best compared to Toyota's Camry than any other vehicle. Acura TLs are
best compared against Infinitis and Lexus's rather than Nissans or Toyotas.

Well, considering I can outrun it due to my 419 lb/ft of torque and 356 hp, out maneuver
it due to the 4-wheel steering, out brake it due to the performance brakes, and probably
better survive a crash with it due to the drivers side airbag and rigid passenger
compartment, I'd have to say it bends Cordobas over and screws them. Not that there's
anything wrong with that.

Actually I can believe that. He's also proud that his wife had to get a protective order,
that he placed his wife's sister (Carol Wells) in harms way by posting her name, address
and phone number in perverted newsgroups, and he's proud that his daughters will someday
get to read all of these posts. He gets some kind of perverse pleasure knowing that his
daughters will get to see what kind of horrible man their father really was. That's just
the type of guy Ivan is though.

Well the Rio is 25-30. But I didn't want something that looked and
priced like a Geo. The Spectra is only 22-30. The Optima is only
20-27. The warranty is nice but they just don't really look all that
great. I thought the same thing as you. I was thinking they would be
at least 28 to 30 city.
Oh, and while you are here Dustin. Have you seen the 350 yet? There
was one on I-44 the other day. It was a pretty ugly rust looking
color but still pretty cool looking.
beatnik

Reckon he might be one of the 'fondling' fathers of Delaware County
fame?
It sure seems as if that's a possibility.
Yep. I saw one at Jackie Cooper. Was the one you saw a dark color, or more like a gold
color? I saw the "gold" (It's actually called Le Mans Sunset). You're right, it ain't
the prettiest color (the darker color is called Brickyard). They told me they'd sell it
to me at sticker. I told him "no thanks, mine is prettier." It is a sharp looking car
though. I'd like to see one in silver or black. They'll move too. 0 to 60 in something
like 5.4 seconds. At least they are half way affordable again. I have the window sticker
from my car and it was $37K back in 1991. The 350 I saw was $34K.
