The Disney "press" and Roy Disney

does anyone else feel that Jim Hill, Al Lutz, and and of the so caleld
"online press" that report on Disney matters exclusively need to just
shut their mouths right now regarding Roy and his plans?
Jim is making connections between Roy, Jobs, Lasseter, and the Henson
family. Even setting up the dots that when connected, lead to Roy
possibly engaging in what could be some illegal manuevers to undermine
possible deals.
These sites really DO NOT have the agency to positively effect Roy's
campaign. Al pretty much just gave his take and left it at that. But
the articles the past two days, while interesting, that Jim Hill wrote
really pissed me off.
Of course Wall Street Analysts are not going to report on the "maybes"
of what Roy is going to do. Their concern is the current state of the
company in regards to financial gains. And from that perspective, it's
all looking kinda good. And I am leery of much mainstream press, given
that no one is going to do any investigative reporting, and will
probably still rely on the mainstream press.
Let Roy do his thing. If he needs the support of the small stock
holders, who are the only ones with any kind of potential power that
would be reading the fan sites, they'll get ahold of us.
In the meantime, why aren't these sites backing up some of Roy's seven
points. The failure to invest in the parks, the "creative brain
drain," the perception of the company... all of these are things that
these sites (which ARE read by some mainstream journalist and media
outlets) excel in reporting and if anything could not damage or dent
anything Roy and Stanley Gold are hoping to achieve.
"Storming the Magic Kingdom" part II isn't going to be written until
AFTER events take place. So some folks need to stop trying to write it
as it happens.

Rest assured that Wall Street has never heard of Jim Hill's web site... hell,
most hard core nutso Disney fans have never heard of it. Secondly I think that
the "press" from these sites is pretty fair. They are making speculations but
there is nothing ileagal about What Roy MIGHT do. In fact it is very similar
to what happened in 1984.
I think you may have misinterpreted some of this stuff... but it is really not
effecting anyone because pretty much no one reads that crap anyway.

Even if they ARE reading it, I think the peeps on Wall Street are at least
smart enough to "consider the source" and would certainly be completely foolish
to only act on that "information"

Right now its all speculation...no one knows whats going on in the boardroom or
what Roy and Stanley are up to....if anything...I mean they could just be going
on a "Eisner should resign" speaking campaign and that could be it......yet
even though most of the internet "news" is all a fiction at this point...it
makes for a fun read......

saddened and disappointed to learn that you and Roy had stepped down
from the Disney board of directors. This concerns me because I believe
that Michael Eisner will no longer have anyone to "check and balance"
him. It is the opinion of most of the cast members that I have talked
to around the company that it is time for a change. We want and need
the change in order for the Disney company to survive and prosper. New
ideas are paramount. The Disney legacy should be held in trust for
future generations, and not gutted for shareholder value.
Please let me know how I can personally help. I would be glad to
organize mailings, or do whatever I can. I want a voice. It is time to

If you would like to help I could use the names, addresses and e-mail addresses
of individual employees and shareholders that want to be heard. Please give me
only names of people who are willing and comfortable with having their names
and identities being made public. I want to show the shareholders (large and
small) that there are 1000's of Disney employees who are willing to stand up
and be counted...........and who want Eisner out.....and a Board of Directors
that is responsive and accountable.
Please do not "force" anyone who is uncomfortable into signing up.

Corporate Governance In Disneyland: A Sad Chapter
In addition to tendering his letter of resignation to the Walt Disney Company,
Roy Disney is circulating the following letter addressed to Disney employees
("cast members"):
ROY EDWARD DISNEY
December 3, 2003
Dear Disney Cast Members,
It was nearly 20 years ago that a small group of us recognized that dramatic
changes were necessary to reinvigorate and reenergize the Disney Company. We
changed the composition of the Board and assembled a new leadership team headed
by Frank Wells and Michael Eisner. I returned to the Disney cast and, working
as a team, we planted the seeds that rekindled the spirit and creativity that
is synonymous with Disney. Those efforts paid off handsomely in the late ‘80s
and early ‘90s. Once again, Disney was admired for the wholesome family
entertainment it brought to millions of people of all ages. Together we created
the dreams and excitement that made Disney respected and beloved throughout the
world. We succeeded in recapturing the dream born of Walt and my father and the
heritage they left to us.
Sadly, times have changed. Michael Eisner has lost sight of the vision upon
which this Company was founded. The focus has shifted to the chase for the
quick buck instead of a dedication to new and high quality ideas, the
development of enduring value. This has led to division within the Disney
workforce, a revolving door of managers, and the exodus of too many of our most
creative and inspired employees.
For the last several years, Michael Eisner has done his utmost to isolate me
from the members of Disney’s Animation Department and exclude me from
participation in decision making regarding the Department. Most recently, I was
prevented from even attending the Animation Department screening of three
pending feature animation projects. The collegiality and openness that once
typified the Disney workplace has been destroyed.
It is against this backdrop that I had no choice but to resign as Chairman of
Disney’s Animation Department and as a member of Disney’s Board of
Directors. This has been a very painful decision. I am torn between my duties
and loyalties to all of you who have made my journey so memorable and special,
and the
need to preserve the Disney heritage for future generations. However, I cannot
stand idle as the heart and soul of this Company is being systematically
eliminated by senior management protected by an ineffective Board of Directors.
This is a Board that seeks to avoid the constructive tension necessary to guide
management through difficult times. Instead, it is a Board that seeks to stifle
dissent and, to that end, has asked me to leave the Board of Directors.
Although this is not how and when I would have liked to leave the Disney
Company, I assure you that I view it not as an isolated and sad event, but as
part of a process. I hope it is not too late for the Disney Board of Directors
to finally recognize that fundamental change is needed to restore the Disney
luster, nurture and protect the wonderful characters that together we have
developed and, most importantly, to create the environment within the workplace
necessary to give life to new Disney icons for the generations to come.
As I now set off on a different course, I cannot fail to publicly and openly
once again express to all of you my most heartfelt thanks. I am grateful that
we have shared this journey. Without you, your contributions and camaraderie we
would not have been able to make the magic and wonder that is Disney. I hope
that one day soon the Disney Board gets the message.

From what I read he saved the Sybase company from going under by
carving out their own niche in the market that had been taken over by
Microsoft and another company (Oracle maybe?)

Hollywood and that people are contacting him about making a movie
about Eisner's downfall??? I checked briefly on his site and couldn't
find it, but is this story true? If so, these internet fansites are
getting truly sick and delusional.
NOBODY cares what Jim Hill, Al, Mouseplanet, or any of the other sites
think. They're like Harry Knowles, only small scale.

it only looks fake because Roy has PERSONALY put this site up himself. He is
no pro web designer but he cares SO DEEPLY about this that he decided to cobble
a site together himself and is currently fielding all the e-mails and replying
to each one personaly. I mean now that he is out of work he REALLY has to

I completely agree with you Shane... what's odd is that I just
researched who owns the domain name and it is owned by Shamrock
Holdings Inc of Burbank (aka Roy's investment company). It was
registered on December 1.
As ridiculous as it is, there is a small part of me that thinks this
site might be at least linked to Roy.
Weird none the less.
