1. 1996 Phantom Regiment (what a build...hornline for the ages)
2. 1989 Phantom Regiment (balls-to-the-wall drumcorps)
3. 1987 Garfield Cadets (a clinic in clean marching)
4. 1987 Santa Clara Vanguard (see '89 PR above...oh, that opener!!!)
5. 1989 Cadets of Bergen County (not their best, but I LUV Les Miz!!!)
6. 1993 Phantom Regiment (Yikes! Scary good...a GE masterpiece)
7. 1987 Phantom Regiment (like a cool breeze entering the field)
8. 1990 Star of Indiana (they make their move...an underrated show)
9. 1999 Cavaliers (with more time to clean, they could have contended)
10. 1996 Madison Scouts (just fun as hell...enough said)
Remember the topic, gang. It's fav shows of all time, not best shows of
all time...we don't need posts explaining why PR does not have 4 of the
top 10 shows of all time. That is a different post. Besides, I only
became a fan in '87...how could I pick the best 10 when I have only seen
everything from '87 to '99?

The two shows I can never get enough of. Two shows chock full of pure
bad-assedness.
3 - BD 1990
What an amazing hornline, and about the only show that the solos can
without fail, send
chills down my spine every time I hear them.
4 - PR 1993
THE definition of lower brass. :) Can't get enough of them contras...
5 - PR 1996
Phenomenal hornline, great low brass, percussion parts I dig. Dark, dark
sound. 'Nuff sed.
6 - Garfield 1984
WOW. Wish I coulda seen this one live. Too bad I was only four. :) Damn
near perfection.
7 - CBC 1993
I'm a fan of aggressive, and this show just really gets my blood going.
I love the
sound of the lower brass, and the mellos are just nuts. Oh yeah, that
drumline too. ;)
8 - SCV 1987
What a freakin' lush sound! Full, deep, great upper brass, and well
programmed. And a cool
drum break. What more could a fan have wanted? Besides that show
winning? ;)
9 - Madison 1988
Um, balls to the wall anyone? Insane show, that arrangement of Malaguena
is awesome,
the hornline was phenom, marching was amazing, and what I have to think
is one of the best
baritone solos ever captured on tape. (Course, if anyone has any Pepe
Notaro, I'm willing
to listen!)
10 - BAC 1999
A show that dropped me when I first played it at the February camp (one
of 2 camps
I attended), and a performance on Saturday that had me screaming giddy
as I watched
my friends (their swarming pixels, anyway :)perform their hearts out (I
asked a friend of
mine when they knew they made it; he said as soon as they went to horns
down at semis, as
tears were flowing out of his eyes because of what he knew they just
did and how much the
fans appreciated it.)
These are the current shows I bow down to. :) Course, my list tends to
fluctuate, but this is
what it is right now.

Legion from Hackensack New Jersey who in 1947 clawed their way through
more than 120 Senior drum & bugle corps to win the Legion Nationals at
New York City.. they featured a show saluting major American Cities and
States.. including NY NY It's a Wonderful Town, Oklahoma, Moon over
Miami and Chicago.... They rigged their horns to include a 'piston' and
added a new dimension to drum & bugle corps... I know, I know... Today's
drum corps crowd can only talk about corps they've seen the past few
years... How about the Knights of Cathay in Frisco, or the Senorita's in
Los Angeles, or the Stockton Commodores...or the Freelancers of
sacramento, or the Royal Aires in Chicago (Hi Sy Lurie).. Where are the
original Casper (WY) Troopers on these lists.. how can you not mention
the Hawthorne Caballeros, LI Sunrisers, Des Plaines Vanguard...Blue Rock
from Wilmington Del or the NY Kingsmen in their Mexican Sombreros
stomping all over everyone in NY....27th Lancers... And so on... I find
these lists almost as shallow as the people who write them... We are
ever evolving...There never will be a complete list of "The Best' corps
shows...SkyRyders, Miami Vanguard, Gabarina Mazarakos Skyliners who's
original New York Show was as exciting and vibrant in it's time with Hy
Dreitzer Arrangements as the Cadets NY Show this year.....Oh well.. I
will be good and go back into my cage now... Those of you who are NEW to
drum & bugle corps (Last 15 years or so... ) Should learn the History of
our activity... you would be astounded by the great shows you never
