I would say that it now looks like the bigoted VCT has succeeded in doing what
we have failed to do,get a coalition of allies in their "battle" against
Mexicans.Raza,if you think that we can fight this battle by ourselves and
succeed we are kidding ourselves.Instead of increasing the rhetoric on how we
are different from everyone else,we must show the American population that we
are no different than their immigrant ancestors, and "assimilate"(according to
most studies & research) at the same pace as their immigrant ancestors. The
battle is heating up,so lets formulate a strategy
that will guarantee us well-needed support from ALL sectors of American
society, instead of an "us against them" strategy that is doomed for
failure!Let's use our heads instead of our hearts.

Though I agree that we need to reach beyond our communities if we wish to
accomplish anything--that's a bit of a truism; I must say that there is no
reason to WANT to do anything, if we don't listen to our hearts. The whole
desire to better our raza is based on CARING.
Assimilation presupposes an object. What are we to assimilate into? If you
mean some bland, monochrome of an American(US), then such a proposal is against
what it SHOULD be to be an American. If our ideal is LIBERTY, then the worst
thing we can do is do away with our cultural ties. Cultural ties(and others)
make people bind together with PURPOSE. Please don't encourage the already
horrid tendency for Americans to sever inter-citizen ties to the point that we
are obsessed with invidualism. Individuals need only concern themselves with
acquiring material goods. Groups can serve as a check to the forces that are
already close to effecting a world of complacent individuals that any Monarch(
at the height of Monarchy) would be in awe of. More importantly, any
transnational corporation would support such a move (assimilation) toward
equality sans liberty!

pura y simplemente no cabe vivir."
