I'm a new person trying to find my place in a large group filled with
extremely bright, very fast people with wild, wacky senses of humor:
trollers, flamers, gamers, and just plain folks ... all of whom have
histories and some friendships with one another that I don't even know
anything about. I'm trying to somehow fit into that group in a small way
by just being real, being my own real, authentic self.
I figure that my own real authentic self will eventually be recognized,
and the fact that I'm not some other poster from the flonk (as I've been
accused of being) will eventually be realized, by those who still feel I
am that other person. I know that some folks here will never accept me,
or like me, and I'm not so unrealistic as to expect that everyone will
accept or like me.
I'm just trying to be friendly in my posts, to show some sense of humor,
and to not overstep boundaries. Being new, I'm still trying to figure
out who and what all those boundaries are, which will vary from person
to person, and which will take some time to learn about. I know I'm
bound to make some mistakes as I'm learning.
I've got a strike against me right off with several people who dislike
me due to their belief that I'm really someone else other than who I am,
and certain others are taking their sides by snubbing all efforts I've
made to post to them in a neutral friendly way.
OK, fine, I accept that, and I'm handling that. I wouldn't expect much
other than that, given how my whole beginning here was pretty unusual.
Last time I was online you and I mutually engaged for less than 10
minutes in some sexual flirting, in a joking around _virtual_ and very
mutual way that you said you were open to before I even started. No-one
dragged you against your will into any part of that very brief little
virtual playing around.
I posted a courteous and respectful post to you after maybe 10 minutes
of it, stating that I was stopping it and I didn't want it to continue
further. Then I went on to some other threads, and after awhile I logged
off. Next time I logged on I find a post from you, posted almost 24
hours after my own, saying that _you_ want it to stop. I thought I _had_
stopped it 24 hours before that, but whatever. I wasn't offended, and I
spent some time again apologizing to you for any possible boundaries I
may have overstepped with you. I thought we were both clear on that
whole bit.
After apologizing to you I've been posting as usual to several other
threads, including this one. In this thread I was being friendly, being
real, being myself, and trying to show that I'm perfectly willing to
relate to you respectfully in any other way than flirting, that I'm a
real human being who recognizes you are a real human being too, going
through some stressful stuff about real estate (which I'm also going
through, but that's beside the point).
What hit me right between the eyes, and frankly did offend, was your
reference to me about what you termed "dirty sex talk". I didn't feel it
was "dirty". I never used one single "dirty" word in that brief virtual
exchange we had in another thread yesterday, and yes, I was fucking
offended by what you said to me, headkase, and it frankly hurt. I've
read much "dirtier" sex talk than that which you've engaged in here with
other posters. Yes, I realize you have a longer history with them, and
that you don't know who I really am, but it's all just virtual usenet
stuff. If you were trying to make me feel like some piece of scum: nice
going, hk. I've got feelings too.
Who the fucking hell knows how a new person is supposed to relate to
anybody in a new group without stepping on some toes or accidentally
hitting some people's hot buttons? I sure don't, and apparently I
stepped on yours by attempting to be real with you tonight. Sorry as
hell I did that. It wasn't fucking intentional.
I do understand what you mean about property issues being "real life".
You could have just said that without your reference to "dirty sex
talk", as if it was something scummy that I had dragged you unwillingly
into, something which you'd never have done otherwise in this group.
