In the Netherlands at least, you can buy any CD that is released in this
country, from any place where they sell CDs. Of course, with most CDs they
won't have them in the store, but if you give the name of the artist and the
title, they will contact the record companies to get it for you. I assume it
works the same in the US.

If you want to do mail order, there are many places to go, since most CD mail
order places ship internationally. But be aware of taxes! So order in the US
if you're an USian, order in any European Union country if you live in the EU
(in that case you don't have to worry about import taxes or VAT). In the
Netherlands there is TeleCD at http://www.telecd.nl/ and in the UK there's
iMVS at http://www.imvs.com/ and "Cheap or what CDs" at http://www.cow.co.uk/

As with all mail order things, I can't take any responsibility for anything
that may go wrong. I've used all of these before, but that doesn't mean a
thing. Use them at your own risk. This risk can be high if you pay by credit
card! And be sure to compare prices: is VAT already included, are shipping
charges already included, how high are the shipping charges?

At last indeed! Some fans create a newsgroup after the first album of their
star, we have made it just before the sixth (or am I miscounting?).

Well, I'll be doing it in english only for a while... Maybe one day, when I've
learned French well enough, I can try some bits of French as well...

Indeed. Posting binaries will result in newsadmins dropping
alt.music.mylene-farmer from their list. You can post binaries in
alt.binaries.pictures.diva or alt.binaries.pictures.celebrities if you want
to. It would be nice if you posted a little message here that you've done so.

I don't know about mail order. I have seen Mylene's discs in some
stores of Tower Records. (e.g. Mountain View CA, & New York)

I was very pleased after hearing this news, because I like
Mylene's music very much. I've been a member of the "Libertine
mailing list" for a long time. However, this newsgroup being an
international "alt.music.mylene-farmer"-group, I thought that
finally I would be able to read and write about her and her
songs in English.

> Both french and english messages are welcome but, in order to be

My French is only moderate after studying it merely for about
four years in my past, and I don't speak or read or write it
very fluently. After reading this newsgroup for as long as it's
been on the net, I see that almost every one of the messages
has been written only in French.

And that's the reason why I'm bidding farewell to this newsgroup
very soon (and probably to the Libertine mailing list as well,
for the same reason...). Maybe I will visit them again some day,
but at the moment I have to say goodbye. I like Mylene, I love her
songs and I have translated most of her songs into English and
into Finnish as well, but all this "French only" conversation is
more than I can handle at the moment. I wish you all well and
"long live Mylene!"

Most messages are in french because most participating people are french!
But if you launch a discussion in english, non-french people will be more
likely to participate...

As it is very long and boring to translate every message, the rule is:
the answer must be at least in the same language than the question...

So ask your questions in english, you'll be answered in english.....
And if you find that any french message is of some interest for you, why not
asking for a translation in this newsgroup, i am sure that someone, even if
it is not the author of the message, will agree to translate it for you.

Moreover, seeing more english posts here would allow us to know if
non-french people are interested or not in this newsgroup...

Do not hesitate to tell me any suggestion or comment about this newsgroup...
Any problem can not be solved if it is not raised first!!!
Greetings

Vincent

I am!

I've been a Mylene Farmer fan since I found her album "L'Autre" in
a record store in Montreal about five years ago.

Unfortunately, living in California it's hard for me to find her stuff
around here. I finally picked up "Anamorphosee" a year after it came out!

Any other fans in California, or even in the US for that matter?

Sorry that my written French is absolutely terrible.

Best wishes to all,

Ed Suranyi

There must be some fans in California as I have seen some of her CDs in
Tower Records in Mountain View. (Admittedly that was back in 1994) when
I was working there for a few weeks

Hello!

No need to apologize for your English -- it's very understandable.
I wish I could say the same for my French. I can kind of understand
spoken French (and to a lesser degree written French), and I have made myself
understood when I speak French in France, but I haven't WRITTEN a sentence in
French in twenty years, I'm sorry to say!

As I said, I discovered Mylene quite by accident when on vacation in Montreal
about five years ago. "L'Autre" just happened to be in one of the listening
stations.

I was in Paris in October and at that time I picked up some things I
didn't yet have, including the "Live a Bercy" album. I also got
the video of the same name, and another video that I believe is her
latest collections of music videos. Those are in SECAM, though.

I was in Montreal earlier this month, and there I picked up an NTSC version
of the video for "Live a Bercy", so now I've finally seen it! I still
haven't seen the SECAM music video collection, though. I've got to
find a place I can trust that will transfer it.

I don't need the SECAM "Live a Bercy" anymore. Anyone want it? :-)

In the US, some of the very large record stores in major urban areas carry a
few Mylene CD's in their international import sections. But it usually takes
months to get here, as in the case of "Anamorphosee", which I found at the
Tower Records in Mountain View, California (in the San Francisco Bay Area,
near Stanford University).

Naturally, I was greatly amused by the first song on that album!

I go to Montreal every few years (I have family there), and there Mylene
CD's are easy to find.

Too bad I just came back from there, and probably won't be back for a
couple of years! I don't know when I'll be able to get her new album.

Best wishes to all,

Hi everyone,

I think Anu Seilonen is very right. I am from the Netherlands and I also
try to understand everything that is said on this newsgroup. However it
would be nice if the French messages were translated in the English
language. I think that is the best way to keep this newsgroup an
international place and not only for the French speeking peopple.
I found a place were you can easely translate from French to English and
back, this is the URL:
http://babelfish.altavista.digital.com/cgi-bin/translate?
I hope that you all would consider this and at least add an English
translation to your messages. Thank you all very much.

After five months nothing has changed. Practically all posts are
in French only. This is my last post to this newsgroup, from
now on I am going to find my Mylene information somewhere else.

Kiitos ja anteeks,
