I have been suffering from anxiety attacks for just over three years. They
just suddenly came on and I became very anxious, and nevrous. I would wake
in the early hours of the morning dry-heaving for no apparent reason. It has
to be some type worry that is bothering me. I have been on Wellbutrin for
over two years, and also 2mg of xanax for the same length of time. Is there
anyone out there that has had any luck with Wellbutrin, I wanted to get off
the medication but my Doctor advised aganist it. He asked me did I think I
need to talk with someone else about some underlying problem, meaning
theraphy, and I told him I think I can deal with it. But after three years
I am beginning to wonder. What could they do that would stop the anxiety
that came on me suddenly?

Bob:

Wellbutrin is not typically used for anxiety. In most people it actually
increases anxiety. I was on Wellbutrin for a year for depression and it
took my anxiety level from manageable to unmanageable and I ended up
switching to a Tri-cyclic that works for both. Therapy helps quite often
though not always but IMHO you can't know until you try. When my PA/s
became very severe I tried therapy and that was what made my anxiety
manageable for the last 15 years.

Hope that helps.

I personally am a strong believer in talk therapy (Cognitive Therapy,
cognitive Behavior Therapy) That's what I'm doing again, and it is slow,
but it seems to work, though I'm thinking of either a mild tranquilizer
or anti-depressant..... I'll broach the subject with my therapist
tomorrow.

The combination of meds and talk therapy..... and if you're committed
you can actually buy the books and do it yourself without paying a
counselor.... seems to work best with people I've spoken with.

Go for the the therapy Bob. I have been having CBT for a while now and I
need NO more valium to stop a panic attack.

Make money!!
One asked me who i loved more, my mother or my dog.
I said my mother of course, i dont have a dog....
You get hit with all kinds of things like it's your fathers
fault because he never took you to a ball game. It's
your mothers fault because she yelled at you when you
totaled the car. Only one that made any sense to me is
the theory that there's a fluid that passes through your
brain and it's being blocked somehow and it's hereditary.
Just my opinion.
