There is a pop3 log file in my OE folder. The size is BIG, almost 98,000
kb's. I compressed all my folders in OE, but this one always remains the
same size. Can someone please tell me what's the function of this Pop3.log?
Is there a way to open it and see what's in there? Or is it safe to delete
it?

Thank you for any info. you can provide.

Tools/Options/Maintenance is where you enable/disable the various log files
used for troubleshooting in Outlook Express. The creation of the logs
should be minimized since as you've discovered, they grow in size with each
opening and closing of the program. Uncheck the option at the bottom for
troubleshooting and reserve their use for when needed. One user reported he
had one over 2 MB in size which was just a waste of hard disk space.

Hi Jim
Thank you for replying to my question. Just to double check with you before
I do something stupid. Should I right click the Pop3.log folder and delete
it?
I already unchecked the option for mail trouble shooting.
Thanks again!!

Sure. You can open it in Notepad if your curious about the content but it
will be filled with just repititous information about your connection
attempts. Go ahead and delete it after you satisfy your curiousity. It's
how we all learn.

Thank you Jim
You always come to my rescue when ever I need help with my OE. I tried to
open the folder with notepad and WordPad, but the file is so big that I get
an illegal operation error. Oh well, I couldn't satisfy my curiosity, but I
have another question for you:
Is there away to direct sent messages to another folder beside the sent
items folder?
My teenager daughter always deletes emails she sends out from the send items
folder and the deleted items folder.
I can keep track of what she receives by leaving a copy on the server, but I
would like to know what she sends out, just to be on the safe side and keep
her out of trouble.
Hope you can help me with this. TIA

Not really. It sounds like you need to have a little conversation with your daughter about trust (although your post implies you perhaps do not trust her) and answering anything about that is outside my area and not something I could or would comment on.

Thanks Jim for your advice
It is hard to trust kids nowadays. No matter how good you teach them at
home, they always seem to pick up bad stuff from friends at school.
It would be good if the deleted emails from the deleted items folder could
be restored. I have seen a lot of people in this newsgroup asking for this
option. Maybe Microsoft should consider coming out with a solution for this
problem. They would make a lot of people very happy. Take care.
