Hi Ingrid,

sound files (in your case presumably *.wav files) usually reflect huge
amounts of data and are - above a certain predefined size - not
automatically embedded in *ppt or *pps presentations. According to this make
sure that

1. you send the sound file as well and not only the mere presentation
(provided that the sound file`s size is still suitable to be sent via
e-mail)

2. the recipient saves the corresponding sound file in the same folder (!)
as the presentation. Otherwise he or she will not be able to hear it.

Greetings from Germany
Bernd

Can you give a few more details such as the format of the sound (wav, mid or
mp3?) the procedure you used to insert the sound, the type of sound
(transition sound, animation sound or inserted sound?) and also the size of
your sound file?

Meanwhile, you can find out more about PowerPoint and Sound at:

Ingrid, if you're using a WAV file, you can ensure that it's embedded in
the presentation by going to Tools/Options and putting 50000 in the box
that says "link sound files greater than XXX kb." This will ensure that
your WAV file will travel with the presentation.

If you're using a MIDI file, you'll need to send (email) it along with
the PPT file, and, as another poster mentioned in his reply, you'll need
to ensure that the recipient places it in the same folder along with the
PPT file when he/she saves it.

If I were using a MIDI file, I would probably go to
http://www.winzip.com and download WinZip. I would then create a
self-extracting file that included both the PPT file and the MIDI file.
Using WinZip, I could then specify a folder/location for the
presentation and MIDI to be saved to, and it should then play. (When I
do something to send in this manner, I tend to create it in a folder on
my desktop and then specify that WinZip create that folder on the
recipient's desktop. Added insurance for playability!)

Finally (and you probably already know this, but it never hurts to
repeat it), most email has a limit of 2MB. Plus, when you email a file,
extra bytes an bits get added before sending. If your combined PPT/Sound
file is larger than about 1.7MB, your email will probably bounce.

If you can provide us with details as others have asked, we can better
help you with this.
