Hey,

What do you all think of the new DVD boxset comming out? Personally, I can't wait for the unreleased live action part. I read the translations of the screenplay and it looks awesome (providing it's the same thing). Of course the 5.1 and remastering can't be bad... but maybe they have 'exploited' the series enough?

Also, does anyone know what versions the movies will be? I heard they are the 'final' versions. Which are those... ture^2 ?

The translation can be found @ http://www.evaotaku.com/html/liveaction.html

What I heard:
After much speculation and rumour as to what exactly "Renewal of Evangelion" was to be,
we can now inform you on the exact details. Bandai will release a 10 disc DVD boxed set -
The Renewal of Evangelion DVD boxed set will be released in Japan on June 25th.

- The entire 26 episode TV series,
- The extended "director's cut" versions of episodes 21-24.

- 1 bonus disc of extras featuring non-credit opening and ending, trailers,
and a never before released "live action version of the film."

This is the 'Alternate Version' thing I was talking about in that other
topic. (the red cross book one)

Keep Manga Entertainment the f*** away from this, I'd rather ADV got their
hands on it than Manga.

Vaughn L.Porter
Get TRSI on it.

I agree with keeping Manga away from it.... an anime company called manga...
hmmm

Actually, I bought both the evangelion dvds they released, even though I
have the japanese ones already, and was pretty dissapointed. I had to return
Death and Rebirth twice because of mangufacturing problems (case falling
apart and scratched dvds)... that wasn't a good first inpression. I didn't
like the subtitles either.... That is just me though. and Ack the
comenteries... ack... Sorry, but they sounded like idiots... heh.. and I
know lots of people dissagree with me on this, but Spike Spencer is a
bastard :P I don't think he even understands half of what shinji says.

Anyway, besides from Manga and Spencer bashing, I wanted to know what you
guys thought of the translated live action version? Actually.... I really
liked it. Almost too perfect :P Once again the characters seems so real;
great script. I think Anno would do some good directing with that. Heh,
probually alot better than James Cameron. (You guys hear that rumor...?
hear anything else about that?)

I think that Gainex might be 'raping' evangelion for all it is worth, and I
guess they deserve too, but maybe they could work on a new series based in
the eva world. That might be cool. There newer animes are pretty damn nice.
I loved FLCl and Abenobashi... both very good. Very modern-istic-ish. heh.
Actually, I thought Gainex was starting to slow down with the eva stuff when
they stopped making their sexy calenders, but now they are hitting back with
a full re-release. wow.

Can you say "Neon Genesis Titanic"? Or "End of Terminator"? How about "The
Abyss of Shinji's Mind"?

Vaughn L.Porter
Might as well have Spielberg or Lucas
(or both) redo Spirited Away.

"The Abyss of (Shinji's) (One's) Mind" - that could be another episode title for part of End of Evangelion, or TV Eps 25/26. ;)

Close your eyes and try to imagine EOE directed by David Lynch :-)

Ok, that I can see. I did see a review that described Eva as being a giant
robot show the way Twin Peaks was a cop drama. How about EoE as directed by
the brothers who made The Matrix? Or one of the Zucker brothers?

Vaughn L.Porter
Kentucky Fried Evangelion.
